Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Party on, dudes! And welcome to Fandom High.

Pippi also does not bother to talk to Shep on the subject of age.

"Well, more upper then me." she replied. "So what classes do you take?"

"There is that," he concedes. "I have Comm 301, Sex Cultures, Paranormal, P.E. and..." He knows he has a fifth, but he always forgets what it is. "Oh, right! U.S. History. You?"

Pippi considered Shep's hair, not to long ago she'd been making fun of Angel with Yuffie regarding boys and their obsession with hair product... On this guy however, it was charming. She was also pretty sure she didn't see his name on the "scary girl owns this guy" list in the 1st floor girls bathroom. She wasn't sure why that information was important.

She had no idea what to say other then talk about school.

"Creature Languages, Math, Intro to Archaeology, and Gardening." she said, "... I had to add Gardening." she said lamely and inwardly cringed at herself.

"Gardening can be... useful." Shep tried to sound supportive. Honestly, the horticulturists and botonists he'd worked with in the past bored him senseless, but Pippi didn't need to know that. "Why did you *have* to add it?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, I guess I didn't have to add it... But I wanted to take it because I used to have a garden at home and... I wanted to be sure to take a class I knew I'd get a good grade in." she admitted.

Change the subject Pippi.

"So where are you from?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] wraithbaitjohn.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, sort of like why I'm in P.E. Gotcha."

"I... moved around a lot. Military family and all that. You?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Pippi nodded.

"Much the same," she said, "I grew up on a ship..." she looked down at her coat, "I guess you can tell."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

"The outfit sort of makes me wonder. Either that or you're out to seduce Barbosa. Naval family?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I haven't yet met Barbosa, but I heard him on the radio and everybody mentions him to me... So yeah, my Papa's ship wasn't exactly part of any one navy, he was sorta, mercenary." Pippi felt suddenly self-concious about calling herself a pirate considering this guy came from a military family.

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] wraithbaitjohn.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Shep raises an eyebrow at the word 'mercenary' - in his experience mercenary was pretty much the same as rogue and that never ended up well for him. But he really doesn't think this girl is all that much of either, after all she's here at school, so he lets it alone. "So you moved around a lot growing up, huh? What sends you here to school?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Pippi gave a small shrug.

"Yes, we sailed all over the world. Until Papa and I got... seperated. So I handed the ship off to Fedolf, he was the first mate, and the crew to go find him and that didn't go well... But what brings me here I guess is a lack of formal schooling elsewhere. I tried to attend school in the town where I lived, but that didn't work out either." She sips her drink.

"Then my best friend Annika found out about this school somehow, and she thought I'd do well here. Though I do miss her and her brother terribly... How about you? What brings you here?"

Pippi had the feeling a pattern was developing.

"Would you believe a freak cosmic occurance that no one can explain?" He tries to sound suitably flip, but is afraid he comes out more aggrivated.

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Pippi looked John in the eye, "Yes.", she said simply but with a smile.

"My room-mate is from the future far flung future where she apparently battled 'super-villians', what-ever those are. And I appear to be spending most of my time hanging out with a vampire butler from the 1940's. The other day, a demon gave me a muffin. Why wouldn't I believe you?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] wraithbaitjohn.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
"It has to mean something that with everything I've learned about people here, I don't know who one person you just mentioned would be. But about the muffin, the ones from demons are probably okay, don't take anything from a gremlin."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Pippi nodded, "Two of the three are new Freshmen like me, the other lives in town. I don't actually know if my roommate is from the far flung future... But I have over heard her mentioning 'super-villans'. Which are things I have never known of before, so I assumed... As for the muffin, he didn't seem the sort to muck about with baked goods. So your assessment that it was safe is correct. Some folks are just like that, sanctity in bread products. Though frome what I've heard about the gremlins here, they don't strike me as the baking type... Did you have anything like gremlins where you were before your freak cosmic occurance?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] wraithbaitjohn.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
"'Sanctity in bread products'" Shep repeats, not quite sure why that, in all that Pippi had just said, stuck out. "You don't happen to know that new kid Sandburg, do you? That sounds like something he would say."

"We didn't have anything as benign as gremlins. What we had... not so friendly. Sucked the life right out of your chest. Really ugly." Shep shivered at the thought of the Wraith.

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yes, I know Blair. He's quite nice... Though if I hadn't spent so much time in ships he might make me sea-sick. All that bouncing."

She listened to what he had to say about Wraiths and was slightly aghast. "... And you don't count those as a reason for being here?" she asked. "We have these things called Tomte in Sweden, almost-exaclty-but-not-quite-unlike-gremlens... They can be benevolent though... I take it you need to do more then leave out a bowl of milk to deal with those things."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] wraithbaitjohn.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, they aren't how I got here. They're a reason not to be there, but they aren't to do with how I got here."

"Sweden, huh? You meet the chef yet? And yeah, these guys don't have a whole lot of use for milk. We left out C4."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Can you not get back there then? That's terrible."

"Yes, I've actually braved eating in the Cafeteria a few times already. It's not bad actually. I'm not sure what everybody was on about with the warnings."

"... I'm sorry, I don't know what C4 is. Except possibly Tommy and Annika's Aunt's appartment number."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] wraithbaitjohn.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
"The going back thing... it's complicated. Let's just say that I can, I'm chosing not to. For now."

"The warnings weren't - generally - regarding the taste of the food. It's more the after effects. Last year some tacos or something left half the kids answering everything with lines from disco songs. That sort of thing."

"And C4 makes things go 'boom'. A lot."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Pippi took stock of herself at the mention of tacos because she had the tecu seled for lunch... She didn't feel very funky so she didn't worry about it.

Pippi nods. "Life is full of choices. It may not seem like it, because sometimes your options are not all the most pleasant of options. I didn't have to come here, but I did, and I'm glad I did. At some point I might not be glad to be here, and then I'll have another choice like you did." She looks at him, "But I'm glad you chose to stay, 'cause otherwise I wouldn't get to meet you. And that be a fine how'd ya do, 'cause then I'd be standing here talking to myself about choices. And people tend to look at you funny when you do that."

"C4 make stuff go 'boom' huh? We tended to use gun powder for that. We used gun powder for a number of things. Like my pistols for instance."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] wraithbaitjohn.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Shep was looking at her funny anyway. He was starting to think this girl was part rabbit with the way she bounced around and changed direction so often. And he wasn't going to start on how he kept getting 'choices' about where he went and when until someone decided he made the wrong choice.

"C4 works better than gunpowder. Bigger boom."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
This intrigued Pippi. "How much bigger?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] wraithbaitjohn.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Ball the size of my fist could take out this gym."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
That raises an eyebrow.

"That is much bigger."
