Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Party on, dudes! And welcome to Fandom High.

Pippi nodded, "Two of the three are new Freshmen like me, the other lives in town. I don't actually know if my roommate is from the far flung future... But I have over heard her mentioning 'super-villans'. Which are things I have never known of before, so I assumed... As for the muffin, he didn't seem the sort to muck about with baked goods. So your assessment that it was safe is correct. Some folks are just like that, sanctity in bread products. Though frome what I've heard about the gremlins here, they don't strike me as the baking type... Did you have anything like gremlins where you were before your freak cosmic occurance?"

"'Sanctity in bread products'" Shep repeats, not quite sure why that, in all that Pippi had just said, stuck out. "You don't happen to know that new kid Sandburg, do you? That sounds like something he would say."

"We didn't have anything as benign as gremlins. What we had... not so friendly. Sucked the life right out of your chest. Really ugly." Shep shivered at the thought of the Wraith.

"Oh yes, I know Blair. He's quite nice... Though if I hadn't spent so much time in ships he might make me sea-sick. All that bouncing."

She listened to what he had to say about Wraiths and was slightly aghast. "... And you don't count those as a reason for being here?" she asked. "We have these things called Tomte in Sweden, almost-exaclty-but-not-quite-unlike-gremlens... They can be benevolent though... I take it you need to do more then leave out a bowl of milk to deal with those things."

"Well, they aren't how I got here. They're a reason not to be there, but they aren't to do with how I got here."

"Sweden, huh? You meet the chef yet? And yeah, these guys don't have a whole lot of use for milk. We left out C4."

"Can you not get back there then? That's terrible."

"Yes, I've actually braved eating in the Cafeteria a few times already. It's not bad actually. I'm not sure what everybody was on about with the warnings."

"... I'm sorry, I don't know what C4 is. Except possibly Tommy and Annika's Aunt's appartment number."

"The going back thing... it's complicated. Let's just say that I can, I'm chosing not to. For now."

"The warnings weren't - generally - regarding the taste of the food. It's more the after effects. Last year some tacos or something left half the kids answering everything with lines from disco songs. That sort of thing."

"And C4 makes things go 'boom'. A lot."

Pippi took stock of herself at the mention of tacos because she had the tecu seled for lunch... She didn't feel very funky so she didn't worry about it.

Pippi nods. "Life is full of choices. It may not seem like it, because sometimes your options are not all the most pleasant of options. I didn't have to come here, but I did, and I'm glad I did. At some point I might not be glad to be here, and then I'll have another choice like you did." She looks at him, "But I'm glad you chose to stay, 'cause otherwise I wouldn't get to meet you. And that be a fine how'd ya do, 'cause then I'd be standing here talking to myself about choices. And people tend to look at you funny when you do that."

"C4 make stuff go 'boom' huh? We tended to use gun powder for that. We used gun powder for a number of things. Like my pistols for instance."

Shep was looking at her funny anyway. He was starting to think this girl was part rabbit with the way she bounced around and changed direction so often. And he wasn't going to start on how he kept getting 'choices' about where he went and when until someone decided he made the wrong choice.

"C4 works better than gunpowder. Bigger boom."

This intrigued Pippi. "How much bigger?"

"Ball the size of my fist could take out this gym."

That raises an eyebrow.

"That is much bigger."
