Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Party on, dudes! And welcome to Fandom High.

Isabel sees Vala and waves. She wonders how she did in art class today.

"Hey there!" Vala says. "Survived your first week I see?"

"Pretty much, I've managed to avoid the gremlins so I think that's a good thing. Met a bunch of people, decided to run for Student Council, ~~accidently had the vampire find out I'm something not fully human,~~ and I'm still keeping up with my classes. I think I'm doing okay," she smiled.

"Wow, you have been busy!" Vala was impressed. The only thing she'd, managed in her first week of school was getting hung naked up-side-down in the dorms and getting Aeryn to shoot Harkness in the ass in retaliation.

Not that what wasn't something, but Isabel seemeed to be getting with the whole 'appropriate high school behavior' thing faster than she had. "Good luck on the campaigning."

If one of Isabel's special alien powers was mind-reading, she might have thanked Vala for that particular mental picture. Not the upside down or shooting part, but just naked Jack over all. But since she didn't have that power, she decided to talk about campaigning.

"Thanks, I'm actually running with Peter Parker and Bridge Carson. We're proposing monthly, organized game nights. Would you be interested?" She looked towards Cam. "You know Cam? We've talked a couple of times. He's nice."

"You know? That's one of the brighter ideas I've seen. Too bad I can't vote for you, but if you get them started, I'll definitely show up."

Vala laughed. "Yeah, he is, isn't he? He's actually my boyfriend... we even share a dorm room at this point." She smiled. "Glad he's out making the freshmen feel welcome and all."

"That would be great. We're going to try to cover all types of games, Risk, Trivial Pursuit, maybe a Casino Night..." She shrugged, "Of course we need to get elected first."

"Sophomore here! And I was actually supposed to be a Junior. But there was this little matter of missing too many days last year." She rolled her eyes, "I guess all that matters is that I'm out of Roswell."

"You know, at some point I'm going to need a run down on who's dating who. The only couple I know for sure is Belthazor and Phoebe, they were all sappy in speech class yesterday."

"Oh," Vala frowns, "They're making you repeat a year? What a pain!" Vala remembered someone saying 'Roswell' was near 'Colorado', so she figured she'd keep away from that topic.

"Well, Aeryn and John, the two who look like Cam and me, only not? They're a couple. And, as you've probably picked up from the radio, Cally and Anders are pretty serious too." She smiled. "There's more, but you'll pick that up as you go, don't worry." ;-)

"Wait a minute, I've heard about the doubles, and I met Aeryn. I was just too sleepy early on a Sunday morning to realize that you looked alike. But you mean too say, one set of doubles is dating the other?" Isabel laughed, "That's wild."

"Actually, I have a double of my own. She's in my roommate's Shop class." Wrinkling her nose she frowned, "It's weird, ~~and I wonder if she's an alien as well.~~ I haven't met her yet but I suppose I'll stumble across her at some point."

She grinned. "Yeah, it just kinda happened that way, and it is pretty weird, but as long as we can tell each other apart, it works.

"So, you too?" She shook her head. "Yeah, it was pretty weird at first, but you get used to it. I guess that's true of most everything around here, actually. Aeryn and I, well, it's not just the blonde streak, we have completely different personalities. Cam and John sometimes are harder for people to keep straight, especially since they're friends and always hanging around together. But they're pretty used to being asked about it."

"I haven't met her yet, all I know is that she's a freshman. Oh, and our names are spelled differently." She laughed, "Actually that might top the doubles dating, her name is Isobel, I-S-O, while I'm Isabel, I-S-A. I'm sensing the possibility of confusion."

"The same name?" Vala shakes her head. "Oh, I think you definitely win the doppleganger sweepstakes with that one! I don't envy you that confusion.

"Maybe you should consider a name change... or a big sign or something."

"So far it hasn't been too bad, although my roommate was confused in Shop, he swore he'd left me back in the room asleep. And then she didn't know him, so he thought it was me and I'd run into a gremlin." Isabel shook her head.

"So, as the TA, how required is our attendance at that art exhibit?"

"Oh, don't worry about it," Vala shook her head. "I mean I'm sure it will be nice and all, but it's mostly for the Studio Art people. You know, to inspire them and stuff. It's not like I'm going to be taking attendance or anything."

~~No worries, just random conversation.~~

Isabel shrugged, "That's okay, I guess I'll see what's going on. Maybe I'll wander by."

"Cool. I think I'm gonna haul him out on the dance floor (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/512650.html?thread=23770762#t23770762). Got to set a good example for the underclassmen, you know," she smirked as she moved away.
