Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Party on, dudes! And welcome to Fandom High.

"I've survived a week!" Peter cheered. "And my life was only in danger once, too. Not too shabby, I think."

"What did you do?" Rory asked, sighing. "Kick the squid or something?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Um. My Secret Sibling gave me a water gun. And there was this ninja girl... Long story short, I'm alive and uninjured and there may be a ninja with a water gun around town, soon. She seemed too interested in it not to have picked up some ideas."

Peter mumbled into his drink, "I think I actually managed to make this town weirder."

"Not possible," Rory said with a gentle smirk. "I didn't know we had ninjas. Other than Anakin's roommate, I mean. Was it her? Because all I know about her is that she's big on color."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm pretty sure this wasn't her. This ninja wasn't even in color. That was kinda strange, really." Peter smiled. "Hey, you know Anakin?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Rory blushed. "Yup. We're, um, really close friends," she said, holding up slightly crossed fingers. "And she wasn't in color? Huh. I have an evil twin lurking around somewhere who's monochromatic. Maybe they're related."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Peter chose to spare Rory any questions about the sudden redness of her face. "He's my Big Brother. He seems like a nice guy."

"I hate evil twins. They're the absolute worst. Well, them and clones." As soon as he said it, Peter felt that he probably shouldn't have mentioned clones. For several reasons.

"Lucky you. He's the best," Rory nodded. "Extremely reliable."

"And...yeah, I didn't know either existed until I got here. And she's not exactly my evil twin, per se. She's a little older than me. And I think she might be insane."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Older, evil, insane, and monochrome. Dude. You really lose at twins," Peter said. "Or whatever she is."

"I've never had an evil twin," Peter sort-of-lied. "But I doubt it would be fun. You know, what with the evil and all. Kind of a downer."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know that she's evil. Just insane and armed and dangerous and a hooker. Also, she was mean to me," Rory shrugged.

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Peter gave Rory a funny look. "You break my brain. Seriously. I've seen some crazy stuff - because of New York, of course - but between your cute little undead puppy and your insane, well armed, mean, hooker double..." Peter paused. "If I had a trophy, I'd give it to you."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
"And you don't even know about the sidekick thing. Or did I tell you that?" Rory smiled. "I should get a trophy. I would keep it very shiny."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"I think you did. For Professor Tick, right?" Peter asked. "Unless you're saying Crazy Miss Monochrome is someone's sidekick. That would be weird."

"Do you happen to know if there are any trophy shops on the island? Because if there are, I'll totally buy you a Brain Breakage trophy. Except that I don't have money, so you'd have to pay for it yourself."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Wow. Maybe I should just wear my tiara, and consider it a trophy in its own right," Rory mused. "Because I have one, and it's shiny. And I don't think Crazy-Ass Becky is a sidekick, no. But I think she might have thrown knives at someone last night. Or at least, someone who works where she does threw some at some guy for being rude or something. That's what I heard on the radio, anyway."

She signed. "But Professor Skeeter didn't seem to really be going for the truth in that broadcast, so maybe that's a bunch of lies, too."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd hope that the superheroes around here have better standards for their sidekicks than that. I mean, you don't want to hear about 'Superguy and his sidekick, Crazy Hooker!'" Peter paused. "Actually, that movie would probably make a lot of money thanks to people of my gender."

"Yeah, Professor Skeeter seems a little... tabloidy. And I should know. That's what the Bugle is, basically. Really, I think my time working there gave me a lot of practice for her class."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd go see that, because with a title like that, the only way it could be more awesome would be if it were a musical," Rory nodded.

"Yeah, I really kind of don't like her," she said without preamble. "Mostly because only my friend Faith was allowed to call me 'Whorey.'"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"Also? Samuel L. Jackson has to play Superguy," Peter insisted.

"I don't have much of a problem with her, but I'm being careful. She reminds me of my old boss, only she pretends to be nice. At least I knew where I stood with him. But with her? I'm just glad she apparently didn't realize who I was when she was doing the radio."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"We'd have to get some airhead to play Crazy Hooker," Rory supplied. "'Cause it's funnier. And there's definitely no short supply of them."

"She might know. I don't know. I'm kind of glad she kept a few things vague about me - but I'm also kind of paranoid, so it makes me wonder if she actually knows stuff but doesn't want to use her information until later. If that makes sense, I mean."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"I almost think Crazy Hooker needs to be a relative unknown," Peter suggested. "Somebody whose career will peak there and then go nowhere but downhill into straight-to-video movies and basic cable recap shows."

"I get what you're saying," Peter said. If anyone had seen him evading that ninja girl... That wouldn't be good. And if that information was being held back? Even worse.

"Wait... 'Whorey'?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Like, someone who's only played Dead Chick #3 on Criminal Forensic Detectives ? That would be amusing," Rory agreed.

She sighed. "'Whorey.' Because it rhymes with Rory. And there's no real reason for it - seriously, I'm a one-guy girl - but I told Faith she could call me that to be funny."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly. And then people will just call her 'Crazy Hooker' for the rest of her career. It'll be kind of sad, but mostly funny," Peter nodded.

"Ah, okay. And Skeeter is keeping it up? What a jerk," Peter said. "Also? Whorey would imply that you're like Crazy Hooker. You don't want that."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
"It would have a lovely level of schadenfreude, yeah. 'Specially if she's not a very nice person."

"Yeah, really uncool of her. Because it's not funny with her. And I'd rather no one got, y'know, that impression. Especially since I'm single and not even remotely interested in dating anyone right now," Rory said, blushing faintly. "And, yeah, bad enough I look like Crazy Hooker."

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, the single life. I actually just got dumped last night. Via e-mail." Peter liked mentioning that part. That part bugged him the most. "It's not like I wasn't expecting it, really, especially since Kitty - that's my new ex - had made it pretty clear that she didn't want a relationship with this kind of distance..."

Peter stopped and sighed. "Sorry about that. You don't deserve my emo. I'm dealing for the most part, I swear. But, you know, newly dumped... Fun stuff, right?"

Re: Punch (pre-spiking)

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Rory's eyes went wide at the mention of the girl in question's name. But surely lots of people were named Kitty. Or Katherine. Or Kathy. Totally didn't mean anything.

"Oh, God, Peter. That's awful," Rory said sympathetically. "I mean, by e-mail. If it's any consolation, I once got dumped by...um, having my boyfriend skip town and not tell anyone where he was going though I did get a letter in the deleted scenes, supposedly. So, hey. E-mail's a step up, right? And in any case, I'm a month off a different relationship as it is, so we can be emo together."

So, that was a lie. Yes, she was a month off breaking up with Logan. Not so much with the emo, though.

"Geez. It's like any bit of angst I can throw out there, you've got me beat," Peter lied. "The, err, 'bitey' thing last week, the bad dumpings this week..."

"We're going to be angst buddies, aren't we?" Peter asked. "We're just going to keep meeting up randomly and telling each other the ways in which our lives suck." He shook his head. "Can we go back to happier stuff now?"
