The Library - Jan. 11th

Climbing down from his hammock early this morning, the Librarian opens the library for the morning and sits as best he can on a chair behind the circulation desk. He peeling a banana carefully with his feet while keeping a close, supicious eye on the library and, particularly, the books.

Blair shrugged. "I've not really seen Broots much at all this week, but since he's not been overtly mean or kicking me...I think we're good."

Parker grinned again. "Good to know. Hey, you're a freshman. Who do you guys have running for Student Council?"

"Me!" Blair bounced happily. "Well, and Pip and Victor and Pippi and me, I think. We thought about just having everyone run, but that seemed a little excessive."

"I'm not really sure what that means. Do I make posters or something? Should I bake things? Shake babies hands?"

Parker fought the urge to *headdesk* again.

"No babies around here. Thankfully. Unless you count the Mayor's cubs, and he can't vote for us anyway." She took a deep breath. "Baking is good. If you can bake. And yes, posters, also good. You've probably seen a few around." She closed her eyes, and asked hopelessly, "Do you want to be on Student Council? Because I wouldn't have thought it was your kind of thing."

Blair leaned closer to Parker, lowering his voice. "I really like effecting change and helping people. I don't so much like working for 'the man' but I think this might be different. I figured it would be cool to run and if I don't get picked, then at least I had an adventure!" Blair paused. "Do you think I should not run?"

"I'm not so sure about the baking. Or the posters." Blair sighed. "I think this would be easier with babies. I'm good with babies."

"I... am just wondering what you'll do if you get elected. Which you should probably think about too," Parker said, repressing a shudder.

"You're good with babies?" Parker blurted. "That's unexpected."

Blair nodded. "Like my mission or something? I'd really like to be a voice for the freshmen on the council, represent them when it comes time to making decisions so that things aren't skewed towards the upperclassmen. I really think that it would helpful for the freshmen if we had activities in the common rooms a couple of nights a week to promote school unity and help people get to know people on other floors." Blair bounced happily. "I also want to have a homework helpers group or something so people can get help from other students if they need it."

"Pippi and Victor also wanted us to be armed for any upcoming water battles, but I'm a pacifist, so I can't really run on that."

Blair smiled, "I grew up on communes and in tribal settings in the middle of jungles. Babies are around a lot and I got stuck with them a lot when Naomi was hanging out with whatever guy she was dating."

Once you got past the bouncing, Sandberg was bright. Maybe if they sedated him, just a little....

"We discussed having a tutoring program last semester, but for various reasons, it didn't get off the ground. The homework help is probably a good idea, especially in a school with so many different courses, and students from off-planet as well as different time periods." She grinned. "I think I like Pippi and Victor for the water battle armaments, though."

"Ahhh." She blinked. "You're ahead of me there, then. Babies, meh," she said, making an expression of distaste.

"Great! I'm glad there was already interest in it, that makes it easier!" Blair bounced happily. "There's a ton of diversity here which is awesome, but we should make sure that we don't exclude people based on their normality or abnormality. After all, normal is subjective. If you look at it, all of us are and none of us are." Blair bounced again and grinned. "So, now that you've heard all that, do you think I should run?"

"Babies are cool man, you'd like them. They look up to you and they want to please you and they adapt themselves to like and dislike what you do." Blair laughed and bounced happily. "It'd be perfect for you!"

"You'd probably actually be good at it," Parker said grudgingly, "which is the most important part."

Parker blinked at him. "Are you messing with me?" Just how evil was this kid?

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-11 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Blair laughed and bounced. "Just a little, Parker. It's because we've got that special bond now and all. I feel free teasing you and you feel free to laugh about it and you know, not kick me in the chest." Blair smiled and bounced, although warily...sorta like he jumped into a snakes den and told them they didn't feel like biting people today.

Parker smiled. "Sex. Sex. Sex." She leaned forward. "I have a sense of humor, but don't push it, Sandburg."

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-01-12 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Blair blushed and slapped his hands over his ears quickly, "LA LA LA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU PARKER BECAUSE I'M THINKING ABOUT HOW MUCH OF A BOND WE HAVE TOGETHER"

Parker laughed. A lot. When she finally calmed down, she said, "Good luck with your campaign, Sandburg. And if you tell anyone about our bond..." She grinne evilly. "Well, you're smart. You figure it out."

Blair bounced happily and grinned. "Thanks, Parker. I'll talk to you later!"
