Criminal Justice: Free Period

Even though there was no actual class today, the Criminal Justice classroom was open during the normal class time. Tick was sitting at his desk reading the copy of Crime and Punishment Marty had given him for Christmas.

Rory would be posting the semester grades whenever she stopped by so students could check how they did over the past several weeks. In addition, any student who wanted to stick around and study for other exams or just wanted to talk to Tick or each other were perfectly welcome to do so.

For the record, Lockheed was sleeping back in Room 141. He wasn't waking up at 8:00 if he didn't have to.

ETA: There is now coffee and donuts in the room thanks to Marty.

ETA: And now there are grades and frighteningly cheerful teenagers.

Marty drops by the classroom with a portable coffee pot from the perk and a ton of doughnuts he picked up from the NPC Krispy Kreme shop.

"Hey Tick. How do you like the book?"

"Hello, Marty!" Tick said as he put the book down. He was a bit farther than halfway through. "Aside from trying to figure out how to pronounce these names, I'm enjoying it! There's a lot of keen stuff in here that I'm not even going to pretend to make up because it's been years since I read C&P in high school and even then I only actually read half of it."

"And thank you for bringing in the coffee and donuts! How are your exams going?"

Marty shrugs. "Just finished my last one yesterday. I think I did pretty well considering some of my classes I joined on halfway through the year. Are you going to be doing anything on Winter break?"

"Good for you, Marty!" Tick congratulated.

"I'll be spending the break here, so it should be nice and quiet." Tick pondered for a moment. "Well, it should be nice, at least. How about you? Any plans?"

Janet's alarm clock seems not to have gone off this morning, but for some strange reason, her dreams take a subject change, and evil snowmen are a prominent feature.

"Morning, professor." Cameron greets as he passes by the classroom. He had been hoping to run into The Tick one of these days and pulled out a very small gift wrapped present (http://www.heritagemedals.com.au/images/jotp.jpg).

"Good morning, Cameron!" Tick said. "Please, help yourself to coffee and donuts, courtesy of Marty!"

Tick opened the small gift and took a look at it. After being distracted by the shine for a moment, he said, "Thank you, Cam! It's very keen!" Then he started trying to figure out if he could somehow attach it to one of the ties John had given him. It seemed like a fashion statement that could work. FOR JUSTICE!

"I'll never turn down free food," Cameron grinned and helped himself. He watched a bit wearily at the fashion statement Tick was trying to make. "Are you going to stick around the school for christmas, sir?"

[It's a statement he's THINKING about making. The Tick is sans tie today. Poor phraseology on my part.]

"I will indeed be around for Christmas, Cameron!" Tick answered. "I figure it'll be interesting around here. How about you?"

"Good morning, sir," Anakin said, positively cheerful.

It's a strange expression for him.

"Good morning, Anakin!" Tick said, taking a moment to note the cheer. "Err, a gremlin didn't get you again, did it?"

"Anyway, please, feel free to have some coffee and donuts, courtesy of Marty!"

Anakin grabbed a cup of coffee and a donut that wasn't covered in powdered sugar or sprinkles.

"Thank you for your concern, sir, but I haven't seen a gremlin since I gave them a Christmas gift over the weekend. We might have formed a temporary alliance." He looked down at what he was wearing a little frantically. No miniskirt. He wondered why the Tick might think something had bit him.

He really didn't notice the slightly stupid looking smile on his own face.

"Well, okay..." Tick said cautiously. His antennae seemed to be staring at Anakin, making note of something. "How are your finals going, Anakin?"

Rory bounced in, entirely too happy for her own good, and posted the grades.

"Hello, Rory!" Tick said, not at all nervously. Ack. He knew this would happen.

"Err, how are you this morning?"

"I am just great," Rory grinned. "How are you, sir?"

"Err, I'm FINE! Fine! Just fine," Tick said, not sounding completely fine.

Anakin walked over to the posted list and beamed.

Could be the grade.

Could be who's standing next to the grade.

It's hard to tell, really.

"Congratulations," Rory grinned up at him. "I'm proud of you."

Jaye wanders in just to check out her grade. Nifty- wasn't bad for a class she never technically signed up for.

"Hello, Jaye!" Tick said. "Could I talk to you for a moment?"

"I didn't do anything!" she says automatically, then shakes it off. "I mean, sure."

Vala grins, "KEEN" is pretty, well, keen as a grade.
