Criminal Justice: Free Period

Even though there was no actual class today, the Criminal Justice classroom was open during the normal class time. Tick was sitting at his desk reading the copy of Crime and Punishment Marty had given him for Christmas.

Rory would be posting the semester grades whenever she stopped by so students could check how they did over the past several weeks. In addition, any student who wanted to stick around and study for other exams or just wanted to talk to Tick or each other were perfectly welcome to do so.

For the record, Lockheed was sleeping back in Room 141. He wasn't waking up at 8:00 if he didn't have to.

ETA: There is now coffee and donuts in the room thanks to Marty.

ETA: And now there are grades and frighteningly cheerful teenagers.

"I was thinking of visiting my friend Marcella in Chicago, but I saw her just the other weekend and she appears to have moved into my old apartment. So really I don't have a place to stay if either of us needs privacy. So I may just play the orphan and hang out here for the holiday, I'd like something nice and quiet to look forward too."

"I am fully anticipating an attack by evil snowman army or something, so I wouldn't bet on quiet." Tick took a cup of coffee and continued, "Granted, that would be background noise around here. But still, noise."

Marty's eyes perk up in interest. "An attack of evil snowmen? Huh. I wonder what the best defense would be against such an army. You souldn't throw snowballs at them because they would just gain in mass. Does the school have flamethrowers at their disposal for defense?"

"Mind you, I have no evidence that this attack will happen," Tick said. "But it would almost be foolish not to expect it around here."

"I don't know about flamethrowers, but we do have Lockheed. And people seemed to improvise fiery doom for the zombies a few months back with ease. So it wouldn't be too tough to defend ourselves, I think."

"Anything could happen," Marty agrees. "Not that I *want* an army of evil snowmen to attack, mind you. Though fun would be had by all!

"It would at least make sure that the break is interesting," Tick said with the tone of a person who needs to be either teaching or heroing and, hey, look, there's no teaching for a couple weeks. "And I've seen some archival footage. My understanding is that living snowmen get their power from their hats. Just FYI."

"I think I've seen that footage," Marty said seriously. "Isn't there a special snow that has to be involved as well?"

"I do believe that was the case," Tick said as he thought back to the animated footage. "It's good to know that other people are familiar with this kind of thing. It means we're better prepared, just in case!"

"Is there any other winter menaces we should be wary of? Deer with glowing noses? Elf dentists?"

"I've heard something about a Heat Miser, but I don't think he's a threat to us." Tick shook his head. "No, Marty, I think it's probably evil snowmen or nothing this year."
