The Library Is Open - 12/19

Methos looks like he hasn't slept, and possibly has been hit by a 2 x 4 somewhere along the way.

He's working on translating the text that came for him several weeks ago, making notes in a spiral-bound notebook. If you were, say, Daniel Jackson, you might recognize the notes as sort of a bastard Medieval Latin, heavily abbreviated.

Did we mention the not-good-mood?

Rory waved somewhat gleefully at Angela.

Angela bounces over to Rory. "Hey! You look happy."

"I am!" Rory said happily. She glanced around. "Okay, keep a secret?"

"My lips are not just zipped, they are superglued," Angela says, then makes a face at the mental image. "Okay, except that would be gross. But I won't tell, seriously."

Rory glanced around furtively, and whispered, "Anakin and I kissed last night."

"How did that happen? I mean, I know <i<how</i> it happens, but ... I thought he was all celibate, and stuff."

"I don't know," Rory shrugged. "It just...happened. One minute, I was giving him a turtle and we were hugging. The next, we're kissing."

She looked pleadingly at Angela. "Please, please don't tell anyone. I have no idea where this is going, or what's going to happen. We haven't talked about it yet. Anakin and I, I mean."

"LIke I said, superglued lips," Angela says, corners of her mouth curving upward.

She stares at Rory for a second. "So was it good? As a kiss."

Rory blushed, and grinned. "It was phenomenal. He's a great kisser."

"Yay for phenomenal kisses," Angela says, eyes glistening. "I hope things work out for you guys, seriously. Though "I can't date you because I'm a Jedi" is, like, a way better excuse for turning you down than most other things. If he even turns you down."

"I kind of want him to," Rory frowned. "Like, I don't want him to end up messing everything up for himself because of me."

"I don't know. I mean, if he kissed you, or if you end up going out, it's because you both want to, right? You can't make someone do that stuff."

"Second-" Angela is obviously searching for words. "I talked to him yesterday about how you, like, get to be a Jedi. It seems almost wrong to me, that they make these really little kids give up so much without much say. I know it's really important and an honor, but maybe choosing something else wouldn't be messing it up that much for him."

"Well, yeah, he kissed me, but I kissed him back," Rory explained, frowning. "So yeah, we both want to. But if it's going to mess up his future...." She trailed off.

"And, like, I get that? But he started so late, and he's...he's just so passionate when he talks about being a Jedi," Rory said a touch wistfully. "It's what he wants. Other people, maybe not. But Anakin does."

"You know him better than I do," Angela says carefully. "He does sound really into it, though. I just don't get the whole thing, I guess."

Angela gives Rory half a grin. "We manage to pick the most complicated relationships, don't we?"

"We really do," Rory sighed. "I dunno. I'm all mixed up on this one. Because I really, really like him - like," she bit her lip, "I might have kinda liked him a little even before Logan and I broke up. And...I guess he must be into me, too, since he, um, initiated the kiss and all. But still, I don't want him to get in trouble."

"The people who could get you in trouble are, literally, on another planet," Angela points out. "Morally, that doesn't make a difference. But practically? It might. So, they won't know unless he tells them, and he's not stupid, usually."

"Though I guess Anakin might not see it that way."

Rory frowned. "But what if like, Obi-Wan - his teacher, that's his name - comes here again? He was here over Parents' Weekend. I actually got to meet him. Very nice man. And Anakin said there's another Jedi in town who might tell on him."

"I thought Obi-Wan ran off with a showgirl or something," Angela points out. "Isn't Anakin all upset about that?"

"I don't know about the other Jedi. But if she, or Obi-Wan, or that Windu guy, or even Senator Amidala comes to check on him? Ror, the chances of them catching you guys making out are, like, lower than the chances of zombies coming back. You could probably keep them in the dark."

"Plus, it's really Anakin's choice whether he wants to risk it."

"See, I think it's just an object lesson," Rory said. "The Obi-Wan thing. And no one would have to catch us in the act. Someone would only have to tell them. So no one here can know. And I know it's his choice, but...still haven't talked to him about that, yet."

"I guess you have to," Angela says. "I mean, you know I'm here for you either way."

"Did he tell you he's going home for the break?"

"Uh huh," Rory nodded. "He's all nervous about it. I keep telling him not to worry, but it's not working."

"Yeah, when something's going around and around in your head ... you can't just decide to stop worrying and have it happen."

"It's only two weeks, right?"

Rory thought for a second, and nodded. "I think so. Might be closer to a week and a half, but...yeah. Going to miss him, as stupid as that sounds."

"SO not stupid," Angela say. "I mean, I've been whining about Marty not coming home with me all over the place, and that's only a week. And he's not going to a palce where he's going to be told attachments are evil, or whatever."

"Yeah, but Marty's also your boyfriend," Rory pointed out. "Anakin's my...friend who I kissed."
