The Library Is Open - 12/19

Methos looks like he hasn't slept, and possibly has been hit by a 2 x 4 somewhere along the way.

He's working on translating the text that came for him several weeks ago, making notes in a spiral-bound notebook. If you were, say, Daniel Jackson, you might recognize the notes as sort of a bastard Medieval Latin, heavily abbreviated.

Did we mention the not-good-mood?

Parker comes in with the packages that didn't get distributed last night. "Hey guys."

"You too?" asked Janet, nodding at the pile of packages she had behind the Collections Desk. "At least we used different wrapping paper."

Parker grinned. "I'm trying to catch everyone before the holidays, it's always a pain to mail stuff back. I meant to stop by your room yesterday, but I ended up conking out on the couch, then dragging myself to bed. After snarking the night away watching Rory and Anakin."

"When are you leaving?" asked Janet. "And don't worry about it. That's why I brought your package here. Do you know how difficult you are to buy for?"

"Some," Parker admitted. "You weren't easy either, but I love the shirt," she added, ripping into her package. "Ohhh, yum! Thank you! We can have this tomorrow during the party."

"I'm leaving early Thursday morning, and I should be back for New Year's, weather and travel permitting. We're going to the Bahamas." Parker rolled her eyes. "No Greek isles for New Year's, but I'm actually grateful for it."

"Hopefully, Dr. Pierson can be here," said Janet. "Did you know Professor Cregg was in a car accident? He didn't know how serious it was. I don't even know why he came in today."

"Sounds like you'll have a great time," said Janet. "Maybe I should have bought sunscreen for you instead, though."

Parker looked shocked and worried. "What? But we just got *back* from New York! That's ridiculous, how--" She shook her head. "Do they think she's going to be okay?"

"Where are you guys going for Christmas? Or are you staying here?" Parker asked. "I assumed you were going to Colorado, but since Idiot Boy went to Egypt for Thanksgiving, I guess you could be going anywhere."

"I haven't heard anything," said Janet. "The instant I'd heard there'd been an accident, I told Dr. Pierson he should to leave." She glanced at his office. "I hope he listened."

"Probably staying here," said Janet. "Maybe going on vacation, depending on whether Daniel's player has access Daniel gets it together in time."

Parker looked at the office, then shook her head. "I'm not bugging him about this if he's in there hiding again. Because that *always* works out so well. God, Jack must be going crazy."

"Well, I'll send you guys a postcard. And if I can get on-line, I might email you if I get bored." Parker thought about that. "Beach, email. Hmm. Yeah, don't count on that. But I hope you get to go somewhere too."

Rory discreetly set this (http://www.starbucksstore.com/products/shprodde.asp?SKU=312780) and this (http://images.send.com/103437_big.jpg) in front of Parker, blushing.

"Not a word," she whispered.

Parker looked puzzled for barely a second-- Rory already gave her her Christmas presents, then noticed the blush. And burst out cackling.

"Ohhhh. Really? Heh. Not saying anything. Nope, nope." She grinned, popping a chocolate in her mouth. "Except, congratulations, maybe?"

"Yeah, really. Last night. Looks like I lost the bet the day we made it. How sad is that?" Rory tried to look very sad. It didn't quite work.

"You can't tell anyone though," she added.

Parker smirked, then rolled her eyes. "Rory.... Come on! No one will care!"

"We haven't even talked about it, though. Like, about whether we want people to know," Rory explained quietly, watching to make sure no one's listening. "And seriously, he could get in huge trouble just for kissing me. I don't even know if I want it to go further, because I...I don't want him to mess everything up for himself over me."

Her grin had faded a little. "But the important thing is that we haven't talked about it. And until we do, please don't say anything. Please?"

"All right," Parker grumbled. "I can respect that you're trying to figure it out. And I know the thing with Echolls has you gun-shy. So. No telling. For now." She shook her head. "But if you lost the bet in *one* day, I think you're dreaming on keeping it quiet."

Rory flushed. "It's not like I planned that. It just kind of happened. And, well, we can at least try to keep it secret. I hope."

"Uh-hunh," Parker said skeptically. "Remind me to get you face powder to cover the blush for New Year's."

Rory poked her own cheek, frowning. "It's a stupid family trait. Doesn't help the fact that I can't lie like, at all."
