Library (12/15/05)

Janet opens up the library after the omg, posted late, noes! Criminal Justice final. She flips on the lights, goes behind the Collections Desk, and starts silently cursing the stupid little gray aliens that sent her back to high school, finals, the whole concept of papers and the grading system in place in the United States today.

She scrawls out a sign on a piece of paper and posts it on the door:

PLEASE TURN IN YOUR OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS
BEFORE THE END OF THE TERM

(OR WE'LL SEND ZERO AFTER YOU
WITH HER MALLET)

Bel blinked. "I have no idea what you're talking about," he said coldly. "You're the one who jumped all over me in sociology."

"Love. Spell." Angel repeated. "Cast by you, on me. And lemme tell you, if the aftereffects is that you get to lose your memory of everything that happened, we really need to kick the crap out of whoever came up with it in the first place."

"I'll never forget that. I'm a demon, not a witch," Bel said. "You're barking up the wrong tree here."

"Vampire, moron," Angel said. "If I can do some magic, so can you."

"What makes you think I did it?" Bel said. "Yeah, no secret I liked you better as Angelus, but a love spell is just a little over the top."

"Let's just say it was a wild stab in the dark," Angel said, with a look that implied Bel himself would be getting something similar if he didn't start being more helpful. God bless Blackadder

"So what if it was?" Bel leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. "You can't prove it."

"Who says I need to?" Angel looked smug. "Stay out of my way."

"Or what are you going to do?" Bel persisted. "Kill another student? How very Angelus of you. Maybe there's hope for you yet."

Angel chuckled. "Bel. You of all people know that I don't need to kill. Not to get what I want."

He stood up, ready to take his leave.

"Is that supposed to be sort of threat?" Bel growled.

Then he laughed. "Was pretty clear what you wanted last night. Blame it on the spell all you want, but you're the one who keeps bringing things like that up."

Angel smirked. He leaned in again. "Bel, I was there. I think you're forgetting that I wasn't the only one who had things coming up."

He stood up again. "Huh. Wonder what the Source would think if they heard about that?"

This time when Angel turned to leave, he actually started walking away.

Bel's hand clenched into a fist, then unclenched again, fire starting to spark as he looked at Angel's back.

"Hey," said Janet, looking pointedly at Belthazor's hand. "Shut that thing off or take it out of here."

OOC: I didn't want to interrupt your scene, but fire in the library means someone has to. Feel free to start bitching at Janet if you'd like. :)

Bel clenched his fist again and quenched the flame. "Sorry," he growled, still glaring at Angel's back. "Didn't see the no smoking sign."


[OOC: Is good timing, since Angel walked off. ;) ]

"It's a library," said Janet. "We figured we didn't need to post a sign around the flammable objects."


OOC: Well, yes, that does help. :) Also, yay, interaction with you, and not as Drusilla!

"Figured a place like this would have magical fire extinguishers or something," Bel said. He jerked his head toward Special Collections. "You gotta have some sort of magical defenses on that place."

"We survived Zombie Weekend and the resultant zombie stew," said Janet. "And then we spent two or three weeks cleaning up after it." She glanced over at Special Collections, then back at Belthazor. Why did he want to know about the magical defenses on Special Collections? "I don't really want to take any chances either."

[demonbelthazor]

"I can understand that," Bel said, nodding. "Sorry about the fire. It won't happen again, I promise. I know how valuable the books are in here."

"Thanks," said Janet. "I appreciate it."
