Methos looks around his domain. In less than a month, it's going to be someone else's domain.

He's not quite sure how he feels about that.

"Special Collections ate someone else?" Parker suggested. "Or we found a nest of gremlins in the air ducts over the check-out counter?"

"No, those would be funny things," said Janet. "We're being abandoned."

Blinking, Parker said, "Abandoned to what? By whom? And where? If someone's taking me out in the woods and leaving me there, they're in for a funny surprise."

Angela looks at Janet. "You should say it. I don't want to give Parker bad news."

By Professor Pierson. He's leaving us.

Parker's eyes widened. "He's what? Nooo! He can't! We have a system! I like the system! Why is he leaving us, why? Why?"

Because he wants to teach. History. So he's leaving us an' they're gettin' someone else. Who will probably be mean and make us wear blazers. Tweed ones.

((You know who you need? Giles. From Buffy. Is he at FH yet?))

((We really, really do, and we haven't one.))

"He wants to teach history," said Janet. She sighed. "How are we ever going to manage to break in a new librarian?"

"Dude, Rory and I barely know what to do with the old one yet," Angela points out.

"Oh god, I hope the new person lets us all stay here. It would suck if they decided one aide was enough, or something."

"I suppose we could all get fired," said Janet. "That would be very, very foolish of the new librarian." She paused, then added. "Because we already know the library, and it knows us. Not because we'd make the new librarian suffer. At all."

I'm not sure if I can be fired, and if you all get fired...I'm not sure if I can quit, either. The contract is in blood.

Oh, of course we won't make the new librarian suffer. Much.

"Always possible," Parker said to Zero, smirking. Then she turned to Angela.

"They *better* not decide one person is enough. Or if they do, I shall be there taking pictures of the resulting carnage when the new students arrive next semester," Parker said, folding her arms. "History? He want to teach *history*. God. We've spoiled him, that's the problem. He's forgotten what adolescent attention spans *really* are. He's going to be so sorry."

"It's entirely possible," said Janet.

"Pierson might be, like, pleading for his job back after a semester dealing with a classful of kids."

"And if he wants it, and we don't like the new Librarian, well.... Special Collections gets hungry." Parker's smile was evil. "And we're not responsible if it needs to be fed."

"Dante might accidentally get loose," added Janet. "That would be a shame."

"And of course, some books are very, very dangerous," Angela says with a straight face. "If the librarian forgets his gloves, it's not our fault."

"Because he should already know about that," Parker said with a straight face. "And we wouldn't want to offend him by telling him anything so basic."

Janet shook her head mournfully. "I almost feel sorry for him."

"Almost," Parker smirked. "If he's a *real* Librarian, and can catalog and subdue books and glare at students, well... maybe we'll put up with him. But no pretenders or posers need apply."

"Exactly," Angela says. "No British dweebs in tweed who won't obey the supreme authority of Janet, Parker and Zero, or whatever supreme authority Rory and I have by next term."
