Janet waves at John, whom she's barely seen lately.

John waves back. There's a bandage over one eye from his day of Looney Tunes this morning.

"You okay?" asked Janet, gesturing at his bandage.

"Fell out of bed this morning," he lies. "Knocked it on the nightstand. Hurts like a bitch."

"Ouch," said Janet, wincing. She resisted the urge to grab her penlight and check his pupil dilation. "Does your head still hurt from that?"

"Not my head," John says and taps the bandage. "Just where I hit it. Aeryn said it's not bad but it is noticeable."

"Oh, good," said Janet. "No concussion, then. So how are you doing other than that? Did you guys have fun in Chicago? I wandered away when you got mushy at Fields, and then we never really met up again."

"I'm okay," he says with a nod. "Chicago was fun and HUGE!. I bought no Christmas gifts. I'm flailing a lot for Aeryn. I have no idea."

"It was pretty nuts," said Janet. "And Marty's apartment was crowded. So what have you ruled out getting for her? Give me a quick list. Maybe I can help you come up with something?"
