Detention - 12/10

Welcome to Detention.

Lorelai hasn't programmed the Danger Room Shop because there are too many buttons and she doesn't want to break anything.

She has, however, arrived laden with bags and boxes of supplies.

"Okay gang," she says once everyone has checked in. "I realize you all apparently did very bad things or you wouldn't have ended up here. But it's almost Christmas, so instead of punishing you like some of the other teachers did, I'm going to make you spend the day making Christmas decorations."

She looks entirely too pleased with herself.

"I've brought in all kinds of craft supplies, including a ton of glitter. I'd like to use your finished products to decorate my husband's diner, so make them really good, okay?"

The following list of names is written on the board.

Chihaya
Thomasina Coverley
Death
Edward Elric
Lily Evans
Susan Ivanova
Harry Potter

Lisa looks a little sheepish and grabs some popsicle sticks, making a bootleg Star of David. She eyes the glitter which warms her expression into a soft smile.

"Hi, Mrs. Gilmore-Danes. How are you?"

She's quite embarrassed to have one of her professors lead detention.

"A little overwhelmed, hence my forgetting to sign into Math class for an entire week a/k/a posting in the wrong place instead like an idiot, but otherwise I'm well.

But I've been working on my business plan for class. It's almost done," she nods semi-convincingly.

*DEATH takes a seat next to Lisa, trying to master his sense of dread into a friednly aura. He only manages to make the inevitability of one's mortality seem vaugely comforting.

He begins cutting some construction paper with the intention of making a Christmas tree hat.*

"Hi," Lisa says pleasantly. Considering finals are coming up, Lisa is very comforted by the inevitability of death right now.

"I've been okay, you? I heard the pageant was a big hit. Congratulations. Way to redefine spirit fingers forever.."

*DEATH, having constructed the actual tree part, is now begining to make amazing spherical ornaments in hat-sized proportions.*

Hello, Lisa. Too bad about the dentention, isn't it?

"Yeah, it's a pain in the ass. But I'm trying to look at it as a rite of passage," Lisa says with a heavy intonation of sarcasm. "What are you in for?"

Thomasina takes the seat next to Lisa's, selects a stack of multi-coloured papers and a drawing utensil and settles in to cover the pieces of paper in 'markings'.

[OOC: Anyone who looks really carefully will be able to see that she's writing equations of some sort, but they belend in fairly well otherwise.]

Thomasina looks up, briefly, smiling at her equations being described as pretty. She thinks the things they describe are, of course, but their simple written forms have no particular beauty of their own, unless they gain some through the benefit of her handwriting Thank you, ma'am. They're meant for paper chains.

Lisa smiles at Thomasina, and mouths that she'll catch up with her later as Thomasina chats with Lorelai.

Ivanova investigates the craft supplies, extracts several paper tube rolls and a pile of construction paper and begins industriously cutting out small hats and mitts and scarves and hands and arms out of various colours. She avoids the glitter.

Ivanova tries to avoid glitter, but her half-finished carollers are soon sparkling in the light. Oh well. Maybe it was snowing.

"Thanks," she says, trying to sound perky. "My m-mother taught me and my brother to make them when we were little. She'd keep them every year until they were too faded to make out the colours and we'd have to make new ones."

*DEATH having completed his first hat, presents Ms. Gilmore-Danes with what appears to be a very ornate, glittery and minute representation of a Christmas tree with chin-straps.*

*DEATH having finished several Christmas trees is an entirely too efficient manner, begins working on some elf-hats. Complete with bells on the ends of them. They are made out of construction paper and covered in green glitter.*

Ivanova raises her eyebrows at the numerous pointy hats even as she begins makkng several scaled-down versions of them, minus the glitter, for a growing army of toilet paper tubes with paper arms and scarves and feet. "Impressive."
