Investigator's Club, the Library -- NFB

After kicking out everyone who wasn't a library aide, a Librarian, or incipient club member, Parker hung a sign on the outside door:

INVESTIGATOR'S CLUB MEETING
PRIVATE

Then adjourned to the counter, where the brownies, drinks, cookies, and fudge were.

Hopefully, more than just Marty, Zero, Janet and the Souled Wonder were going to show.

"Out of curiosity," Angel asked, "are you ever gonna change that record or should I grab some headphones to tune you out?"

Logan flipped Angel an obscene hand gestured and went to talk to Rory.

"I am being nice," Angel said. "Mean is when I express the exact same statement only by throwing people."

There will be no throwing people in the Library!

"Chill!" Parker glared at Angel. "Could you *not* mess the Library rules, when Zero might have to enforce them with extreme prejudice?"

"Gimme a reason. A *good* reason. Not just that he doesn't like you." Parker shrugged. "Of anyone here, he's now got as good an idea of evil as he needs. What's your objection?"

"Move him. You're bigger than he is. Pick him up, turn him around, then run." She folded her arms. "Or more specifics."

"You touch me and I'm staking you," Logan said, getting up from the desk.

There will also be no staking people in the Library!

"Guys, you don't want to know what the Library will do if you keep threatening each other where Zero might have to do crap. So cut it out, will you?"

"Then don't get in his way," Parker said, turning around. "It's not like he's going to be the only one here. Damnit, Echolls. Do you have a better idea for keeping an eye on him, that doesn't actually involve *watching* him? Crichton's too nice and Aeryn's only one person. If we have twenty people watching him for a slip, you and Rory are twenty times safer. Unless you have a better idea."

Logan sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "No, keeping an eye on him is good. Trusting him is bad."

"Echolls, you know me. You know Blank. Do you see either of us trusting him farther than we can push him into a sunbeam?" Parker sighed. "If you don't want to be here, I understand. Part of the reason I invited you is because Rory wanted to be here. I wasn't going to do this behind your back."

"Good. Thank you." She shook her head. "Just-- when I am the one having to be reasonable, you *know* it's bad."

"What part of don't come near me wasn't getting through, Logan?" Angel demanded. "Do I need to say it slower? I don't want to see you, talk to you, or be within a thousand feet of you. Now the school's not so big so I'm willing to compromise on that last part. But gimme the rest and I'm content as a clam."

"Photographic memory on my feelings for you: lather, rinse, repeat. And deal." Parker took a deliberate step into his space. "This is not *your* club, Wings. It's Zero's, if it's anyone's. You were invited here, the same as Echolls, for the same reason."

Angel glowered, but didn't dispute Parker's words. "Keep him out of my way. That's all I'm asking."

"Uh, no. That's not, um..." Bridge fidgets a little. "It's just. See, I've talked to you, and you seem cool. But... I saw what Angelus did to Rory," he shivers, "and I was wondering if maybe I could, like... check? To see if you're good like you say you are?" he waves a hand vaguely.
