The Big Show! Pageant Time!

Janine sets up the ticket booth outside the doors of the theater while Marshall runs the final tech check on the lights and sound equipment. This is going to be the best Holiday Pageant ever!

There is a subtle rustling, and a person not completely paralyzed by stage fright might feel a slight disturbance in their pocket... and then nothing.

Cally looks a little concerned and bites her lip, totally oblivious to the subtle rustling. She gulps and continues her lines.

"It's-a-cold-night-to-visit-our-little-town-period-You-might-receive-frostbite-period."

Anders looks at Cally now and his scowl fades a little but he's still tossing the frankincense box in his hand.

"I will bear the, uh, chill, in order to look upon the --" He fails to suppress a choked whimper as his face suddenly succeeds in blending in with his red cape. "Ch-child. And deliver this frakkincense. ~~To Joseph's head.~~"

"I'm-so-glad-you-have-come-to-bring-gifts-to-this-miraculous-child-period." Cally doesn't even notice the subtle variation in the lines Anders has spoken. She might be shaking a little.

"Is this he?"

Anders notices Cally shaking, and misses catching the frankincense box on the next toss. It hits him in the knuckles.

"Ow, FRAK -- incense. Frakkincense! Yeah. Uh."

"It is. I'm sure he has his father's nose, but I wouldn't know."

Bridge's cheerful mood is quickly evaporating.

Cally almost interrupt Bridge mid-line.

"Joseph-Exclamation-Point!"

"Sorry," he says with a mournful little sigh.

Cally just closes her eyes and runs through the lines as fast as possible, hoping it will make the pain go away.

"You-may-not-be-little-Jesus's-father-comma-but-you-can-still-be-his-daddy-period."

"I know. I-" Bridge experiences a sudden coughing fit- "you so much."

Cally opens her eyes, and turns away from Bridge to face Anders. She swallows and delivers her line.

"I love you, too." And then she kisses Anders. With tongue. On stage.

The Virgin Mary is french-kissing the Wiseman in front of Joseph and Baby Jesus, ladies and gentlemen.

Clutching her robes tightly around her, Callisto entered and growled her line "Oi. I hear that there baby Messiah kid has been birthed. I come to pay my respects, an' bring him a warm blanket made of the finest wool."

Cally has a line now.

But she's still kissing Anders.

Callisto coughed loudly and, still clucthing her robes closed, brandished her spoon at Callynanaders.

Cally finally breaks away from Anders and smiles before turning to Callisto. She takes the blanket. Her super-fast-literal style has gone away with her nervous tension. Now she's just bouncy-happy.

"My child will bring joy and unity to the world! Man will never stand divided so long as they remember his words! Ever! Theological rivalries will be a thing of the past!"

She then goes to pick up the baby Jesus in the blanket. Her jaw drops instantly. Cally swallows again, and gingerly picks up the "baby Jesus"...

'Baby Jesus' grins up at Cally showing lots of teeth.

The gremlin struggles slightly in the swaddling blanket.

He blinks innocently at her and coos.

"I still think you could've asked me about it first. I'm sure I would have been okay with it." Bridge says, not even really noticing the fact that the Baby-J is a gremlin.

Anders stares at the gremlin.

He stares at Bridge's green outfit.

He stares at Cally.

And he promptly passes out cold.

Cally is holding Gremlin-Baby-Jesus as far away from herself as she can. She looks more than slightly worried.

"Joseph, we talked about this..."

Anders has a line here. But it's hard to deliver when unconscious.

John starts rolling his costume on stage and, since it it is such a huge costume, he misses Anders passed out on the floor and rolls right over his legs.

"I have no wealth or goods to present to the Baby uh...thing, so I hope to soothe him with my music."

And, just like Anakin taught him, John starts playing the drums.

Dum dum DA dum DUM DA dum DUM DA dum. If John's breathing a little deeply and loudly, it's all a coincidence.

This is where Anders is supposed to say that John's drum solo was truly beautiful.

But even if he were conscious, he wouldn't be terribly inclined to compliment the guy who just ran over his legs a week before his big Pyramid tryout.

It is very hard to simultanouesly clutch your robes closed, wipe a tear from your eye and hold a giant novelty spoon ready to bash the baby Jesus in the head if he looks like biting. But somehow, Callisto managed "Oi. It brings a tear to me eye."

"Thank you so much for your kindness, stranger. It put Jesus right to sleep."

Cally stares at Baby-Gremlin-Jesus. She really hopes it's asleep. Really, really, frakking hopes it stays asleep.

The gremlin, having been well ~~bribed~~ ~~coached~~ bribed, closes it's eyes and fakes snoring.
