The Library (12/06/05)

[janet_fraiser]

Janet unlocks the library, flips on the lights, and goes behind the Collections Desk. She checks in Methos' office to see if his delivery from yesteray has been opened yet. Or if it's still there. Then she starts looking up useful books for her Indo-European and Classics presentation and working on her independent study in math.

"Hey, Angel," said Janet. She closed up her books and shoved them under the desk. "How's your morning going?"

"Okay so far," Angel said. He came over to her so they wouldn't have to raise their voices to talk. "Wasn't assaulted by the toaster, so that's gotta be a plus, right? You?"

"The toaster is a little weird," she said. "Is it back in your room yet?"

"Scary thing? I honestly don't know." Angel put his hands in his coat pockets. "It might be off somewhere with the Santa. In which case I don't wanna interrupt."

Janet raised an eyebrow. "We'll let them have their private time with each other, then," she said. She reached into her backpack and pulled out her bag of cookies from Lee. "Want a cookie?" she asked.

"Trying to get me in trouble?" Angel teased. "I thought there was no eating in the library."

"Darn, you've figured out my master plan," said Janet. "I was going to hide the cookies and then kick you out." She laughed. "There is no eating in the library. Unless, of course, the library staff is doing the eating. Or gives you the food. And I pretty much always have snack food around. You'd think I'd actually grow an inch or two for how hungry I get some days."

"In which case I will steal a cookie," Angel said, taking one. "These look like Lee's."

"He brought them in yesterday," said Janet. "And he ruined my clever and easy plan to make cookies as everyone's holiday gift. I actually have to be thoughtful and creative now."

"I have no idea what to get everybody," Angel said. "I wanna do something, but not sure what. Oh, hey, Lee and I were talking about maybe doing a Christmas party. What do you think?"

"When did I get so many friends? I'm going to have to go out of town to do all my shopping. And I am always up for a party," said Janet. "So is almost everyone else. I'd be willing to lend a hand if you need some help with the party."

"Food?" Angel suggested. "I think John and I have the decorations well in hand."

"Sure, I can deal with the food," said Janet. "Do you know where the party will be?"

"We were thinking 238," Angel said. "But depending on how many people there are, I dunno. Spill out into the hallway?"

"Or spill into our room," said Janet. "I mean, hey, it's actually two rooms, and one of them was a four-person suite. Jack and Charlie got the brilliant idea to knock the wall down early in the term." Janet shook her head. "Those two are nuts when they get together."

"If you don't mind," Angel said. "I don't want to volunteer your room or anything."

"I'll check with the roommates," said Janet, grinning. "But I would guess that we'll be okay. I mean, Aeryn spends more time at your place than she does ours, Liz is amazingly easygoing, Jack's gone all the time anyway, and you know how Charlie is. Though we should probably make sure Lee doesn't mind too. But he's another easygoing type."

Angel grinned. "Maybe next semester we should just knock down the wall between our rooms too."

"Don't think I haven't considered it," said Janet. "We got lucky last time, though. One of the magic types was around to get rid of the mess for us."

"Who'd you use?"

[janet_fraiser]

"That Potter kid. The one who keeps vanishing and then coming back? Sam was trying to figure out the physics of him being able to make sections of the wall just vanish."

"Draco doesn't like him," Angel said. "Too bad he doesn't hang around more often. Potter, I mean. If Draco hates him he could be useful to us."

"Draco's annoying," said Janet. "I have absolutely no proof, but I still think he's the one that locked me in the bathroom with that squid thing at the start of the school year."

Janet looked at him curiously. "Useful to us?"

"Anti-JA," Angel said. "Not that JA is much of anything these days. But some of the members are still up to no good. Be nice to have people in place who can counteract that."

"Tell me that you either do or will have a better name than 'Anti-JA,' please," said Janet. "Though it does sound like a good idea. I don't see most of those types leaving well enough alone, and Belthazor shows up looking through the mythology section a couple of times a week. Someone should really tell him the useful stuff is all in Special Collections. Except I somehow seem to forget."
