The Library (12/06/05)

[janet_fraiser]

Janet unlocks the library, flips on the lights, and goes behind the Collections Desk. She checks in Methos' office to see if his delivery from yesteray has been opened yet. Or if it's still there. Then she starts looking up useful books for her Indo-European and Classics presentation and working on her independent study in math.

Angel came by during a free moment. He gave a nod of hello to Janet when he saw her, not wanting to disturb her too much if she was working.

"Hey, Angel," said Janet. She closed up her books and shoved them under the desk. "How's your morning going?"

"Okay so far," Angel said. He came over to her so they wouldn't have to raise their voices to talk. "Wasn't assaulted by the toaster, so that's gotta be a plus, right? You?"

On a bit of a whim, deciding to do the research the old fashion way rather than rely on Google, Wilson came up to the library to look for a book.

He slipped quietly through the door making certain that his pager was set to silent before he stood for a moment and drummed his fingers on his hips.

Okay...if you were a book on Christmas traditions where would you hide, hrrrmmm.

Angela comes in shortly after Wilson. Deciding to ignore Angel for now, she smiles at the doctor. "Could I help you find something? I mean, I'm pretty new, but I can try, anyhow."

Turning towards her, Wilson smiled warmly at Angela. "Good morning, Angela. Mmmm...perhaps? Do you have a card catalogue system here? I'm looking for books on Christmas traditions."

"The toaster is a little weird," she said. "Is it back in your room yet?"

"We're on the Dewey Decimal system," Angela says. She runs a finger down a chart of the numbers, talking half to herself. "And Christmas would be under holidays, which is ... probably with the other customs? Check the 390s, on the shelf in the middle terrace over there." She points a direction. "Check with Janet if I'm wrong."

"390s...right." Wilson gave a little wince, old enough to remember now why he hated the Dewey Decimal system...but not about to voice that opinion to library staff.

"Thank you." With a quick grin he turned in the direction Angela indicated and headed for the terrace.

Marty comes in and sits down at his usual table and starts making a list and checking it twice.

"Scary thing? I honestly don't know." Angel put his hands in his coat pockets. "It might be off somewhere with the Santa. In which case I don't wanna interrupt."

Methos enters the library, and leans on the Circ Desk. "Good morning. How did you project planning go?"

If Janet had glanced at his desk in his office, she would have seen the package was still unopened.

Janet raised an eyebrow. "We'll let them have their private time with each other, then," she said. She reached into her backpack and pulled out her bag of cookies from Lee. "Want a cookie?" she asked.

"Hey," said Janet. "Pretty good. Now I need to find some source books and a visual aid. Having a good day so far?"

Janet had indeed glanced at Methos' desk, and quietly cursed him for foiling her nosiness so effectively.

"Trying to get me in trouble?" Angel teased. "I thought there was no eating in the library."

"Darn, you've figured out my master plan," said Janet. "I was going to hide the cookies and then kick you out." She laughed. "There is no eating in the library. Unless, of course, the library staff is doing the eating. Or gives you the food. And I pretty much always have snack food around. You'd think I'd actually grow an inch or two for how hungry I get some days."

"In which case I will steal a cookie," Angel said, taking one. "These look like Lee's."

"He brought them in yesterday," said Janet. "And he ruined my clever and easy plan to make cookies as everyone's holiday gift. I actually have to be thoughtful and creative now."

"I have no idea what to get everybody," Angel said. "I wanna do something, but not sure what. Oh, hey, Lee and I were talking about maybe doing a Christmas party. What do you think?"

"When did I get so many friends? I'm going to have to go out of town to do all my shopping. And I am always up for a party," said Janet. "So is almost everyone else. I'd be willing to lend a hand if you need some help with the party."

Janet waves at Marty.

"Have I had coffee yet?" Methos asks blankly.

[janet_fraiser]

"Not yet," said Janet, pushing her cup of coffee under the Circulation Desk and out of sight. She was very protective of her coffee. "You might want to call Parker or Zero and yell at them to bring you some coffee before they come in."

Methos winced. "All I need is to yell at them again. I'll go to the teacher's lounge. Don't wait up."
