The Library Is Open (12/05/05)

Janet unlocks the library and flips on the lights.

Sitting on the Collections Desk is a package addressed to "Adam Pierson." The envelope is embossed with an unusual symbol, the meaning of which Janet didn't know. Except she did, because she steamed open the last envelope that came with that symbol on it. But she couldn't do that to this package without getting caught. And that was really starting to bug her.

She moved the package behind the Collections Desk and glared at it until the first library patron showed up.

"No, I'm good. I made a copy from the relevant pages so I don't keep hogging up the book. And no, never mind that a gremlin completely scattered the pieces before I could stop it..." He makes a face remembering just how he did stop it and tries not to remember the taste. "I er... I'm sorry for the trouble I made when I was all... four legged."

Parker's face brightens a bit. "Don't worry about it. It was the most fun I had on Friday, it was a little fraught. Zero's okay with it, so, no big." Her lips twitched. "And if I make it to graduation without turning into something, I'll be surprised."

"Glad to entertain you," Cameron shakes his head and tries to not look too bothered with it as Parker doesn't seem to either. Although, het gets the feeling he won't ever live this one down. "I suppose I got it over and done with then. I hope... I can't help but wonder what you'd turn in to."

She catches his first meaning, and smirks, then cocks her head. "It's a good question. Not a hamster, I think. Maybe a cat." She stretches. "Although? A dragon would be cool. Breathing fire and flying, how much fun would that be?"

"Lockheed seems to like it enough, but I suppose you'd go for a fully-sized one?" He grins. "You might want to give Rory a warning so she can vacate your rooms in time."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker's smile dimmed, but remained intact. "Yeah, only fair to warn the roomie that you're going to ignite the stereo, right? And of course, fully-sized. I could hang out on the room and incinerate the gremlins and any random annoying passers-by."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Cameron tilted his head and cocked an eyebrow. "Is that a warning that I should by armour and shield? Because I'm sure I pass there at least twice a day."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
She shrugged, shaking her head. "No, you're fine." She forced a smile. "I'm in a weird mood. Ignore me. No random passersby will be killed." She held the book up. "And now, you are safe from the Wrath of Zero. Even if the book is a little damaged."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just roasted a bit?" Cameron looked sheepish at the mention of the damage and scratched the back of his head. His mom would kill him if she heard about this. "Sorry about that, that gremlin and... Ugh. Sorry."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"No problem. Dr. Pierson might fine you a little, but it's reparable. And gremlin?" She made a face. "Say no more." Putting the book under the counter, she smirks a little. "Lightly singed, sure. Just enough for flavor."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sounds fair," Cameron nodded and leaned his hands on the counter. "How about chocolate cake?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"You offering? So the dragon doesn't burn you?" she asked, looking amused.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep, a bribing in advance," Cameron grinned and if it helped with her weird mood, all the better. "No homemade one, I'm afraid. I have no clue what happened to that as I suddenly grew a tail and kinda forgot about it."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker snickered, her face lightening. "I don't either, but I suspect that around this place it's long-gone by now." She smiled. "Cake would be good.

It's really hard to be bitter about all men when one is offering you cake out of the blue.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure it made someone happy, even if it was that hamster or a gremlin," Cameron agreed. He motioned around him. "I suppose I should bring the mountain to Mohammed?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why not, the rest of the library aides would probably like some too," Parker said, then added, "You don't have to, though. Really."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"I told Rory that I'm aspiring to be the 2nd floor's chocolate cake provider. I might as well make sure I have the library covered as well," Cameron shrugged and smiled.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Cool. Thanks." Parker smiled. "And we'll make sure Zero's mallet stays behind the counter. Really."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2005-12-05 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I'd appreciate it." Cameron grins. "I'll catch you in a bit."
