Student Council Meeting, Monday November 28th

Phoebe opens up the classroom for the meeting and starts setting up drinks.

Parker laughed. "Oh, that's a good idea. 'The things in the common room will steal your clothes. Don't leave them there.' 'The squid in the basement is called Sunshine. Feed her calamari, but don't get too close. She's affectionate.' 'Professor Ted is not stoned, he's just unique.'"

Elizabeth looked thoughtful. "Do we need some sort of material for prospective students, perhaps? I'm presuming that the school's got some sort of official prospectus, but I've been at past schools which have given me a guide from the students point of view for survival... which, in this school, is pretty literal!"

[[ooc: *hits self* Wake up, damnit!]]

"We can mabye have a "Meet your StuCo" kinda thing? Every one of us makes a quick presentation about what we do and what the students should be aware of? Like homicidal ducks. And talking cats."

"And how *not* to deal with the Library. That would be a good idea, yeah. Not to mention the cafeteria food." She looked thoughtful. "They won't believe us about the last one until they're singing ABBA, probably. Sad."

"I can take the organization of this on, if someone tells me when the new semester begins and the new students arrive."

"That'd be great, Alanna. There's a band I want to hire, if we do make it a dance... 'Dusted Bunnies.'" Parker held up a CD. "I heard them over Thanksgiving Break, they're really good."

"Sure, I'll trust your judgement on that." If Alanna was hesitant, she hid it well. "We can have the meet and great and then go on to the dance part of the evening."

Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah, that would probably work. It would also increase our appearance of accessibility, and all that."

"Good idea. And maybe a small handout, with a map? That shouldn't be too difficult. Do you want to take that on, Liz? We could all help."

Elizabeth jots down a couple of things in her notebook. "Yeah, should be easy enough," she says. "I might chat with the newspaper guys, and the pirate to put out something to the rest of the school so they can add suggestions."

"Ohh, good point. There's probably a lot of stuff we haven't thought of." Parker grins.

Elizabeth continues to nod as she doodles on her notebook. "Bit about classes and teachers, bit about extra-curic, about dorm life, school life in general, and about the town? What am I missing?"

"That should do it to begin with, I think. The official stuff-- rules and communications, classes, clubs, all that-- we can leave to the offical school orientation, I think." She checks with the Dean. "Anything you want to add, Dean Bristow?"

"I have no problems with either a social/dance for returning/new students or a special publication for new students. Perhaps you should coordinate with Professor Jerusalem on that. I cannot guarantee his cooperation, however."

"Dean Bristow? When is a. this term over b. the next one beginning and c. break?"
