Friday Ethics Class, 8-10am

Tara's eyes are shadowed as she greets the class, tension permeating her body.

"I'm sure you've all heard the announcement by now. Angelus has been accused of killing Kitty Pryde - which leaves us short one TA, but up an interesting Ethical question.

"Today we're going to discuss punishment for crimes done."

Rory smiles wanly. "Yeah. Just...disappointed." She shrugged. "You were right, Parker."

Parker freezes. "I was right, about...?"

Rory steals a glance around the classroom, and softly replies, "About Angelus. I was just too damn stubborn to see it."

Parker lets out a breath of relief, and closes her eyes, relaxing. "Oh, thank God, I'm glad." She looks around at Rory's glance, then writes a note.

What changed your mind?

Rory bites her lip, and writes back.

I heard the recording Veronica found. Of him killing Kitty.

Parker turns white, and swallows, then scribbes:

Have you told your boyfriend?

Rory smiles sadly.

Who do you think brought the recording to my attention?

Parker blinks at this one, then nods.

I'm sorry. I wanted to be right, but I didn't want to be this right.

Rory nods as well.

Yeah. I mean, it's...horrible - especially hearing it - but I'm glad I know. I feel all dirty, though, after being so close to him.

Parker grimaces as she writes back, the ink heavy on the page.

How could you know? He's charming as hell when he wants to be. He's got a lot of experience at that game. Not your fault.

Rory sighs ruefully before replying:

Yeah. I know. Logan said the same thing. I feel ridiculous, not listening to you and Marty and Angela and...everyone.

I'm just glad he's gone. Gives us a chance to try for normalcy.

Parker cocks an eyebrow, then adds:

Just be careful for a while, okay? I don't know if he's off the island or not, but I'd rather no one took chances.

Rory meets Parker's eyes before quickly scrawling:

I will. At least I know what to look for now. And if I go over to Logan's, I don't have to wait outside in the dark anymore. He gave me a key last night.

There is a tiny happy face next to the last statement.

Parker smirks, shaking her head, and not mentioning that she still has a copy of Logan's key herself.

Greeeeeat. Have you told him your revelation from Caritas yet? Lie to me if you think it'll make me happy.

Rory actually smiles at this.

No. And I'm not lying. I don't plan to tell him for awhile.

And the key is pretty! Er...the keyring, anyway. It has diamonds.

Parker's eyebrows go up at that.

Well, well. Echolls has more taste than I gave him credit for.

You know, you don't have to tell him at all....

There's a winking smiley-face at the end of that last line.

Rory rolls her eyes.

I know I don't have to. Still might not, since it's really freaking scary.

And did you see the necklace he got me for my birthday? Opal. Very pretty. He has great taste.

It's our anniversary tonight! Yay!

Parker thinks back and realizes that yeah, it's been about two months that Rory has been going out with him. She smirks as she writes the next note.

I remember, your birthstone. Very gorgeous.

Going anywhere? Need help getting dressed?

Rory grins, and shakes her head.

Nope, I'm making him dinner.

This would be cause for panic, normally, but my mom's best friend is a chef, and I called her to give me the most dumbed-down recipes she could.

And I have this dress I bought in Hartford when I was visiting my grandparents. White eyelet. It's a little out of season, I guess, but we'll be inside, so should be fine.

Good luck on the food, then. And the dress sounds good, even if it is November. Have fun with that.

Parker makes 'ripping' motions to the note, so Rory will know to destroy it before class starts.
