The Library (11/8/05)
Janet opens up the library and quietly sips her coffee as she works.

Evelyn comes into the library and selects a table. Once comfortable, she pulls out her laptop and begins tapping on the keys.
John comes into the library with the express purpose of teasing Janet. He's feeling brave this morning.
"Hey Jan Jan!"

Janet waves hi to Evie. "How's it going?" she asks.
Lee comes in, deep in conversation with his professor. "But I don't understand how a thinking man could get roped in by a manipulative evil robot - no matter how beautiful- him thinking that she really truly loved him when he knew that her, er, species destroyed his civilization! It just doesn't make sense!"
Eighth rolls her eyes and is all but dragging him to a particular section in the library. "You forget how weak-willed the human male is when confonted with a beautiful feminine figure."
Janet had been thinking about offering John a chocolate chip cookie. Now she raised an eyebrow at him and bit into it herself.
"How's it going, John Boy?" She stuck her tongue out at him.
"How's it going, John Boy?" She stuck her tongue out at him.
Lee looks over at Janet and waves before frowning at Dr. Carter. "We're not all sluttish sex fiends, sir! And the anecdote you're giving me indicates that it's not the sex that's the issues, it's that this hypothetical man actually loves this hypothetical robot woman. How can he love her? How?"
Sam walks in quickly and waves good morning to Janet, heading straight for the card catalog. "Where's the Physics section? I need to double check something before I start assembling my pumpkin flinger."
Janet claps her hand over her mouth so she doesn't start laughing. As far as she could tell, that statement was true across every alternate universe out there.
"You are too hung up on the difference between an individual and the group. While the woman is, indeed, a child of an evil progeny, she has her own will and mindset. And really, Mr. Adama, who are you to say that Helo's this man's love is less than the love that, say, you have for the special lady of your heart?" She discusses back and pulls out a copy of the Works of William Shakespeare.
"Pumpkin flinger?" asks Janet. "Ten rows down, three shelves in. I think."
"But how can you love someone whose programming could change at any second causing her to betray you?" Lee asks and peers curiously at the book in his professor's hands.
John returns the favor and sticks his tongue out too.
"I'm all right. What's happening at the library today?"

Eighth gives him a feline smile. "How can you love someone who could choose of her own free will to betray you WITH ANDERS THAT PUNK? Humans are far more flighty than a robotic individual with both programming and purpose." She flips over to the sonnets, looking carefully for the text she wishes to show this irritatingly argumentative student.
"Shop class," Sam said, already making her way over to the direction Janet had indicated. "We're building flingers to see whose pumpkin can go the furthest, but we have to use stuff we found in the junkyard."
"It's too bad Jack's still sick. This is definitely his kind of assignment."

"But a human's ability to make any choice versus a robot's ability to make only a few choices that are available to them -- that is what makes us different. Makes us better."
Evie smiles at Janet and goes over to talk to her.
"Hi, Janet. I guess it's going well."
"Hi, Janet. I guess it's going well."
"That is what makes you weak, Adama."
Lee bites his lip and doesn't respond, fury filling his heart.
Elizabeth entered the library, still looking puzzled at her biology notes. Her faces lights up when she sees Janet.
"Aha! You're just the person I need!"
"Aha! You're just the person I need!"
Eighth finds the passage she is looking for and presents the book to him.

Lee mouths the words as he reads and says "but bears it out even to the edge of doom" aloud.
"Think on it, child," Eighth says and spins on her heels, leaving him to be lost in the words.
"You guess?" says Janet. "Have a class project or something to work on?"
She grins. "So far? Not a whole lot. Got some weird kid in yesterday who wanted to take a look at the Necronomicon. But today, fairly boring."
