"Pretty good. This week is a huge improvement over last, anyway," Rory says, smiling. "And who do you guys normally torment, anyway?"

"People who fill out forms wrong. People who want books from Special Collections without an excuse. Dr. Pierson. And his friends. And their friends." Parker grinned and offered Rory one of the cookies that Janet had made. "And the occasiona stuck-up, whiny, stuffed-shirt of a British guy who can't take a little banter."

"Wow, you really can't win with the Brits lately, can you? What happened?"

"We were just teasing! And then he insults America!" Parker looks irate all over again.

Rory arches a brow. "Insults America? What was his problem? Was he, like, trying to get into SC or something?"

Actually? Yes. Without a note or a library card. It was kinda cute until he started gettin' snippy.

Parker cocked her head. "He started throwing out the ten-dollar vocabulary like he expected it to intimidate us, then went to Dr. Pierson like he expected him to intimidate us. Fortunately, the Librarian knows better."

Especially Dr. Pierson. An' people who can't take a touch of teasin'. An' people who try to threaten us with goin' to Dr. Pierson with complaints that we're slackin' off.

"That last one is very, very sad and pathetic. And I really do think we need to make him dance before we give him his library card. Do you think he knows any ballet?"
