Philosophy classroom: Ethics class #4, Monday, 2-4pm

"Today's topic is power and responsibility, and I would like to remind you all that your grade comes from your discussion, not your presence. If you don't feel comfortable talking, write something down and hand it in to me. Being a silent warm body in the classroom is no different than not turning up."

[ooc: And I would remind you that I leave posts open for the whole week. If you post 'shows up and takes a seat' I know you're still alive, but you need to actually address the discussion topics to pass the class.]

"Before we begin discussions, I'd like to make an admin annoucement.

I heard on the radio, thankfully, that Archie Kennedy has been found, and is recovering in the clinic. Archie has a roommate. Kitty Pryde did too, and she was missing for days before her dragon showed up.

This is unacceptable. If you have a roommate - it is your responsibility to keep tabs on them. I don't mean watching everything they do, but for goodness sakes, if they don't come home for a few nights, let someone know. Similarly, let someone know where you are, especially if you're going out of town, or staying elsewhere for a few nights.

If you have a single room, I'm asking you to buddy up with someone. Find a friend. If you go missing, the administration needs to know about it in enough time for someone to help you. And unfortunately, too many people just skip class ~~or slowplay~~ for attendance at classes to be an indicator of your safety."

"Teach," Angelus gave her a mock-scolding look, "are you trying to be logical about all this? I thought logic was outlawed at Fandom High."

Tara raises an eyebrow. Quietly, she says, "Yeah, okay. I missed you."

"I'm touched," Angelus pulled a package out of his backpack. It was wrapped in gold paper and ribbons and was the size of a regular shirt box. He tossed it to Tara. "Souvenir from gay Paris."

Tara looks at the box. Looks at Angelus. Looks at the box.

"Is this something I can open in front of my students?"

"Depends on how much you think your students like lace."

Tara nearly drops the box.

"You didn't."

Angelus merely smiles innocently.

Casting a sidelong glance at the room, Tara's fingers twitch. Sitting down at her desk, she puts the box into her lap where it cannot be seen from the students' chairs, and unties the ribbon, blushing furiously.

Angelus watched as Tara unwrapped a bustier, g-string, and garter belt all made of lace and of a deep plum color. "Hope they fit. It's hard to judge size when - " he mimed holding a round object in his hand. Sure, it could have been a grapefruit, but who are we kidding? " - I don't have firsthand experience."

Shane watches the exchange with a faintly amused quirk to her lips as she taps her pen on the desk, long legs crossed at the ankles as she slouches in her seat.

Tara looks at Angelus. She looks at Shane. She looks back at Angelus. She puts the garments back in the box.

"Thank you," she says to Angelus, mortified beyond all possible belief. "This was very thoughtful of you. And, um, pass on my thanks to Darla as well. I'll let you know how they're, um, received, on Friday's class."

Putting the lid back on the box, she drops it on Shane's desk.

And goes to the Emo Closet for a moment. A private moment.

Craning her neck, Shane watches Tara as she goes and then opens the box, taking a peek inside before closing it again. Sitting back in her seat, she looks at Angelus and chuckles, shaking her head. "Do all the TA's in this school buy their teachers lace underwear?" She asks.

"Only the very good ones," Angelus replied. "Shame I didn't think to ask you before I left. I could've taken a request for your own personal preferences."

"I don't have any," Shane murmurs good-naturedly, letting her hand rest near the box, fingertip tapping on the lid. "Just skin is more than enough for me."

"Should try lace," Angelus suggested. "It adds a certain something. Friction, for instance."

Angelus grinned. "Anytime, teach."

"You're very welcome, Jonathan. I'll need to debrief with you at some point - office hours on Friday, perhaps?"

Xander glances at Angelus and grimaces. "I'm pretty sure we'd have to buy a steel mill to come up with enough irony to cover the idea of me being responsible for his safety."

Tara laughs softly. "Just let someone know if he disappears, okay? That's all I'm asking you to do."

Xander snorts. "Are you kidding? There'll be banners. Balloons. Possibly a marching band. You can't miss it."

"Your concern for your fello student overwhelms me, Mr. Harris," Tara replies, but her mouth quirks into a smile.
