For those who didn't see the edit, the newspaper crew meeting is now in the Journalism classroom.


William sits on one of the desks in the classroom, waiting a little anxiously for others to arrive. He holds onto his notebook tightly.

"No," William says, for the second time. "Grab a seat. Anyone who doesn't show up gets to live with whatever we decide tonight."

Rory plops down in a seat beside Veronica and chuckles.

"Ooh, neato. One of the few times being punctual has actually made me feel powerful."

Veronica smiles at Rory.

"We'll have to go back to that restaurant. The food was amazing."

Rory returns the smile.

"It really was. And the atmosphere was nice, too."

[OOC: Really? It never occurred to me. But then again, I only just got into VM while watching the reruns on UPN this summer, and I've never watched Smallville....]

[OOC: Well... I only got into VM this summer too... when the crack dealer trollprincess made me copies of the eps. But Veronica & Chloe are so much alike its frightening. And, as a GG fan, I thought Rory would get along well with them.]

Otto sits down a little shyly at Rory's other side.

"Er, hello? Ah. You are zer girl on yearbook, yes?"

Rory grins at the nice-looking boy.

"Yeah, that's me. I'm Rory...you were interested in photography, right?"

Otto breaks into a cheerful and rather pointed grin. "Oh yes!" he says happily. "Fascinated! So I am planning to do photography for zhis und for zer yearbook, und possibly start a club as vell."

Rory is thrilled with his enthusiasm.

"That's wonderful! I'm so glad we'll have you around on staff. Okay," she says, shifting her eyes downward slightly, looking up at Otto through her lashes, "but I have to ask - where are you from originally?"

Otto's grin fades very slightly.

"Ubervald," he says. "On zer Discvurld. Not many people here know of zer place, I haff found."

"Sorry to interrupt, but we met the other day."

She smiles and tilts her head slightly.

"I'm Veronica and I'm into photography, too. Don't forget to let me know if you start a photography club."

Otto turns to her and his grin widens slightly.

"Yes, I remember. I am just getting around zer papervurk, I think, und zhen I vill be starting it. I vill be sure to let you know."

He considers for a moment.

"Do you think ve vill be collaborating on things? I do not know if you are also doing yearbook as vell, for example."

"A sensible pronouncement at last." Spider took another long swallow of whatever he had in the bottle. It was a suspicious purple color.

"Well, if they don't show up then I don't see why they ought to have a say." William frowns.

Otto wanders into the room in time to hear this.

"Vhat is a sensible pronouncement?" he asks curiously.

"Taxation without representation," Spider told him. "It does tend to cause wars, however."

"Does it?" William asks. "We don't generally have that much excuse, on the Disc. Generally we fight because someone killed someone a hundred years ago and no one bothered to step back and say 'Hang on, why are we letting a bunch of dead men dictate our prejudices?' Or because somebody sneezed wrong. That works too."

"Ah," Spider sighed cheerfully, blowing another mouthful of smoke upward. "Human nature...."

Otto blinks. "I imagine it does," he says a little blankly, and turns to sit down next to Rory.

William looks around a the little group. "I hope more than this show up," he says. "But they're going to have to play catchup, if they do. Let's get started."

Otto nods. "Go ahead. Vhat is our first, er, item of business?"

"Sounds good to me," Veronica says, glad she pulled out her day planner and saw the reminder about the meeting.
