BWI Airport, Portalocity Lounge, Friday Morning [12/30]

Anakin still thought that getting sent off to school at some place he'd never heard of (and he'd been trying to memorize star maps practically since he was old enough to read) was one of Uncle Luke's stranger decisions. He'd graduated from the Academy, he wasn't a little kid any more, but as his uncle's apprentice he didn't have much room to argue. He'd much rather have been back in the thick of things if it were up to him, but it wasn't and Luke had sent him here, so he'd trust Luke's judgment even if he didn't understand it. Sending him to Dantooine with Aunt Mara had been weird at the time, too, and turned out to be a valuable learning experience.

The large Fandom High banner in the Portalocity lounge left little doubt that he was in the right place. With a tiny sigh, Anakin set his single bag down on the floor, tugged at the hem of his tunic. and brushed his fingertips against the hilt of the lightsaber hanging from his belt. That, at least, was something familiar in a completely unfamiliar environment.

He never liked waiting around for things to happen, but since he couldn't be home helping the Jedi with the war effort waiting for the shuttle to show up was the only thing to do right now. Well, that and finding out what the other new students would be like, and he supposed that part would happen soon enough.

[OOC: You will wait for the OCD. *Jedi mind-tricks* Shuttle post is goooooooooo!]

"Galaxy?" Matt said tilting his head as if listening for something. "You're not pulling my leg are you?"

And while Matt couldn't tap into the force he could listen to Anakin's heart rate which sounded normal enough. And aliens weren't unheard of in Matt's universe.

"Well... Then let me welcome you to planet Earth. Sorry. I've never met someone from another planet before.

"One of my teachers landed me a scholarship," Matt replied which was... technically the truth. "He said I had a lot to learn and this would be the place to do it."

"Yeah. My teacher would probably say the same thing," Matt muttered. "He's a bit full of himself. Your uncle a good guy?"

"Sounds like your family is pretty important," Jack said smiling at Anakin's enthusiasm. "It's just me and my dad back home. He's just a boxer but he's always been there for me and pushing me to be the best at school I could."

Yep. That would be Matt's hero worship showing there.

"I don't think he could be any prouder of me," Matt admitted with a smile. "He's always been a guy who's led with his fists first. When it came to me? He made me hit the books instead. While all the other kids were playing in the streets I was reading and doing homework. Here's hoping this place pays off."

"Astral?" Matt said with a grin. "Maybe. I won't lie. Part of me is excited to be out of New York. I've never left the place since I've been born."

"Been a long time since I've had an adventure," Matt admitted with a chuckle. "At least not since I could see."

"About five years ago," Matt said with a shrug. "I had swiped one of the annoying police officer's billy club while on my skate board."

Matt smiled at the memory.

"He used to pester all the kids on the block for playing on the street. He was a bit of a bully."
