Library, Sunday 12/04
Raven was at the library early today, anxious to begin looking through the books for any mention of the "Auditors" Zoe had spoken of on the radio. She clung to what little optimism she had left that they would find a way to stop whatever it was devouring worlds and people, and reverse it for their safe returns. But if a place as powerful with magic as Kaeleer had fallen, she wasn't sure how long Fandom could stand. And the Netherverse was almost gone.

Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"I'm sorry," Wesley said, a bit awkwardly. How did you talk to someone who was about to become evil? "I think I've met you, er, back home in my dimension. Are you Lindsey McDonald, by any chance?"
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"That'd be me, yeah," Lindsey admitted. "At least last time I checked. You know another me? After 7 years you'd think that would get less weird, but it really doesn't."
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"I think I know of you," Wesley said carefully. "Or, rather, another you. Possibly."
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"It's not exactly a common guy's name," Lindsey pointed out. "So it's probably some sort of me. You hearing good things, I hope?"
Like how Lindsey is awesome lawyer with a guitar and a lovely voice, right? Those sorts of things!
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
Well.
"Not exactly?"
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"Ambivalent things?" Lindsey suggested hopefully. Look, it had been a terrible week or two. He'd take what he could get here.
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"Only through a very loose interpretation of the phrase, I'm afraid," Wesley told him a bit regretfully.
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"You're not connected with some sort of rival law firm to explain that away, are you?" Lindsey asked. Hey, it could happen. All the bad stuff could just be jealousy over Lindsey's awesome awesomeness. Right?
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
Actually, that was probably a bad idea.
"--an organization that finds Wolfram and Hart utterly reprehensible," he concluded. "And yourself by extension."
A beat.
"Er. In several years, I expect."
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
Way to think positive, Lindsey! Or something.
He sighed and rubbed at his face with one (not evil) hand.
"The offer was a hell of a lot more attractive before I knew what I'd gotten into," he offered by way of explanation.
Also he'd been a stupid kid from the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma. Any offer had looked attractive.
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"Oh, I'm sure it was," he agreed, his tone deceptively mild. "With scholarships so hard to come by, it must've been quite a relief to learn that you could have a high-quality legal education, all for the price of countless innocents."
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
"Yeah, they mention 'countless innocents' dozens of times in the recruitment videos and brochures," Lindsey snapped. "It's all 'sign here and you too could ruin lives!'"
Honestly, Wesley, they're an evil law firm but they don't advertise it so blatantly!
"Where the hell do you get off, anyway? You don't know anything about me except what I just told you and you're gonna get all judgemental on me? Now?"
Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
even though it would get a lot worse later on omg, but.Re: Mod the Library [Library 12/04]
For example, this Lindsey went to high school with Angel. That changes the whole dynamic!
"You come up to me, thinking it's a good plan to come up someone you don't know and start acting all sanctimonious all at me when I'm sitting in a library trying to help with the fact that whole multiverse is crumbling around our ears? What's that say about you, buddy?"
