Today there was no Danger Shop. ~~ONLY ZUUL~~ Only a bunch of craft supplies and a whole lot of socks.

Additionally there was a small puppet stage in the front of the classroom and a smiling Jamie Madrox.

"Is there anything more noble than the theater?" Jamie asked as the students settled down. "Sure. Feeding the poor. Teaching men to fish. Pro wrestling. But does they truly capture the drama that is the theater? No. It doesn't Today we'll be taking our own approach to theater using my favorite medium... the humble sock puppet."

Jamie gestured to the pile of socks and craft supplies. "Today you'll be creating your own sock puppets and then performing your own short skit. While you all prepare your sock puppets, I shall perform my own show for you to learn from."

And with that being said, Jamie reached into his own pocket and pulled out a sock puppet and put it on his hand.

"Hello, old friend," Jamie said with a smile.

"You're an effing moron," the puppet replied. "Where's the brothel with the pigmentally challenged hookers?"

"I've missed you too," Jamie replied. "Let's get started shall we?"

Oh, absolutely. Just ask her about the original sock puppet, stored in the Dark Vault of the Warehouse.

Either way, she was managing to cobble something together.

Scully had a sock puppet that was smoking a cigarette. Another sock puppet with a very blank expression had been shooting it with a little paper gun earlier.

"This is oddly therapeutic."

"Mine's coming out a little avant garde."

Scully refrained from making shooty noises with an effort. The second sock puppet wasn't a redhead, but only because she thought that might be a step too far. "It's not asking you to retrieve butter again. So that's progress. I'm afraid I'm getting used to this."

"Of all the things around here to get used to, Jamie's actually kind of tame."

"Bizarre, but not life-threatening," Scully had to agree. "I heard you got some bad news over the weekend, on the Radio? Anything I can help with?"

Claudia grimaced. "Probably not. Unless you've got some secrets to interdimensional tracking and hacking."

"No. I know hackers-- but you're probably more advanced than they are. What happened?" Scully asked, concerned.

Claudia bit her lip. Then she pulled out her phone and dialed her voicemail, queued up the latest message, and held the phone out to Scully. "Just listen."

Scully listened with growing dismay. "What the heck was happening to him?"

"I don't know. But I haven't been able to contact him since, and Portalocity keeps giving me errors when I try to check anything in his universe."

"Errors?" Scully paused, remembering a few e-mails. "Can we just go there, and try to track him down? I... this is Peter, he's our friend, we should be able to do something."

"Anything on his universe." Please, like Claudia hadn't tried to book a ticket immediately. "It's like it doesn't exist."

"How does that even happen?" Scully looked mystified and very worried. "He was talking about something getting him, but... damnit, I wish I knew more about how Portalocity works. It could be anything. There's too many possibilities."

"And it's not like we have a whole lot of other options for jumping dimensions. We'd need a . . . hang on. . . ."

Oh dear. Scully, tell Claudia they weren't going to try to use Rheticus' compass to teleport to Peter's dimension.

"Wait, what?" Scully frowned, then her eyes widened. "Claudia. You're not thinking of that."

"What? I'm just considering my options."

"You could wind up stuck somewhere like Joshua did. If Portalocity can't connect, there has to be a reason," Scully argued. "And you'd have to get permission to use that compass again, and I don't see your boss signing off on that."

You weren't going to just walk off with it, right, Claudia?

"Right." Claudia looked away. "Permission."

Well, not just walk off with it.

"I'm just worried, okay?"

"So am I," Scully said, more quietly. "I don't like Peter disappearing either." And that message to Claudia could be interpreted as a cry for help, if you were, well. Claudia. Who hadn't given up on her brother for ten years almost. "Maybe we can find out more. And maybe we can do something from here. The library is full of materials. We could get a pass into Special Collections."

"I should check through the rest of the Warehouse stock," Claudia mused. "Maybe there's an interdimensional communications device or something."

The Warehouse made Scully so, so wary, but better that than leaping into an interdimensional rift or whatever. "That might work. Give us some idea of what's happening." Scully sighed, then leaned in to hug Claudia. "We'll find out what happened."

"Damn straight we will." Worrying sometimes made Claudia a little cranky.
