"Morning, class," Anakin began, striding to the front of the class. "Today we begin discussions about Aristotle, an ancient Greek philosopher, though his influence stretched into many other areas of physical science as well. He believed that justice meant giving each person their due, or what they deserve. But how do we know what people deserve? What goods and opportunities should go to which people? Aristotle’s answer is that we have to consider the telos—the end or the purpose—of the good in question. For example, say we have some nice flutes. Who should get them? According to Aristotle, it’s not the rich person, since playing flutes has nothing to do with money. Nor is it the person who will be made most happy, since making good music is different than being happy. The purpose of a flute is to be played, and to be played well. So, Aristotle thinks, the flutes should go to the best flute players. Do you agree?"

"Hi," she said. "It was a busy weekend. I wanted to make sure I saw you before I left."

"I appreciate it," he said, smiling. "Did you have fun at the dance?"

"I did. Get to see people and leave before the drinks get spiked... good times," she smiled. "Did you? I thought I saw you and Rory."

"I did," Anakin said. "I enjoy seeing the alumni return. It makes me feel slightly less ancient at dances."

"At least you don't have anyone actually calling you old at them." She assumed.

"Other than Bel, who insulted my hair," Anakin replied.

Well. "Which one is Bel?" she asked. If she had ever met him, it was too long ago to remember.

"The tall stupid looking one."

Very helpful, Anakin. Truly.

"Not helpful," she told him.

"Not specific enough?" Anakin guessed.

"We do have a lot of tall people," she pointed out. The rest was probably a subjective thing.

"About my height," Anakin clarified, "dark hair, smug look on his face, normally accompanied by a female witch and Anders, the guy who taught about cupcakes."

"Not ringing any bells," she said slowly, "but if I see him I'll be sure to see if he should be throwing stones about anyone else's hair."

"He shouldn't," Anakin replied. "His haircut is deeply stupid."

"So besides the stupid-looking guy with the stupid haircut, it was good?" she asked, looking amused.

"Yes," Anakin decided. "What's waiting for you when you head home?"

"I'm not sure yet. Zekk said this morning there's something lined up, but I won't know till I get to Coruscant. It's not fair to tease like that," she said.

"Maybe it's garden path sweeping," Anakin offered.

"Can't be, I haven't done anything wrong lately," she said immediately.

"Or so you say," Anakin teased. "Maybe they're handing out preemptive punishments now."

"I hope not, because they really should know better," she mused. "Start giving me them now, next time I run off to help in a war effort anyway, they won't know what to do with me."

"Maybe you can point out you already raked the paths?"

This was why Anakin had been so wildly popular with the Council.

"You really got into a lot of trouble back in the day, huh?" Jaina realized.

A ton.

"Some," he replied evasively.

"Uh huh. Definitely so little that you'd still be able to come up with all that after all these years," she nodded.
