"Morning, class," Anakin began, striding to the front of the class. "Today we begin discussions about Aristotle, an ancient Greek philosopher, though his influence stretched into many other areas of physical science as well. He believed that justice meant giving each person their due, or what they deserve. But how do we know what people deserve? What goods and opportunities should go to which people? Aristotle’s answer is that we have to consider the telos—the end or the purpose—of the good in question. For example, say we have some nice flutes. Who should get them? According to Aristotle, it’s not the rich person, since playing flutes has nothing to do with money. Nor is it the person who will be made most happy, since making good music is different than being happy. The purpose of a flute is to be played, and to be played well. So, Aristotle thinks, the flutes should go to the best flute players. Do you agree?"

"I hope not, because they really should know better," she mused. "Start giving me them now, next time I run off to help in a war effort anyway, they won't know what to do with me."

"Uh huh. Definitely so little that you'd still be able to come up with all that after all these years," she nodded.

Not that she could talk, but it was always nice to be able to catch your grandparent in something like that.

Anakin grinned back sheepishly. "I got better. Eventually."

"Sometimes it's just nice to hear. I've learned my uncle can be intimidated, and my grandfather was a rapscallion." She just wanted to use that word. "Granted, I kind of figured that about you..."

"Rapscallion?" Anakin repeated, testing out the word. "I suppose I was."

This was a lie. She'd met Jack.

"Or a peg leg," Anakin mused. "I kind of did that already."

That... Um. She tilted her head, wanting to ask and not wanting to ask. "A peg leg?"

"Well, there was--" he made the international sign for "that bastard Obi-Wan snicked my legs off with a lightsaber" "--and then metal legs for a bit."

And of course Jaina totally understood the international sign, as it was an international sign.

"I think I've gotten spoiled with medical advances in prosthetics," she said after a moment.

"Little bit," Anakin agreed. "My first arm wasn't pretty."

Weird conversation, Anakin.

"Your first arm," she repeated, as yes, that was a little weird.

Anakin nodded. "When I was twenty or so," he replied. "I fought against Count Dooku and wasn't quite as good as I thought I was."

"Stop losing limbs," she told him, because apparently that needed to be stated.
