Oz had his class meet him in the Danger Shop this week, where they'd find themselves in a fortified encampment in the midst of a seemingly deserted town. "So far we've focused on the theoretical side of not being evil," he began once the class had finished arriving. "And let's face it, it's easier to figure out evil versus good when it's presented in a purely hypothetical manner, it starts getting trickier out in the real world, or simulations of such, especially when you're in a position of power and responsibility, or in times of great stress. When it's both, boy, are you in trouble."

Three guesses what today's class was going to involve.

"You may have noticed our lovely surroundings, well it turns out that while we weren't looking, your typical zombie apocalypse happened, but luckily for you, you managed to make it back to what's left of civilisation, you even found a small group of survivors, and then they made you their chief. Which means your job today is to try and rebuild this decaying husk back into something resembling a town, while keeping people's tasty brainmeats inside their heads. I'm sure you'll handle any moral dilemmas that crop up along the way just fine."

Sam was right there with him, today.

"What do you think, have 'em build me a throne room, first? Or make them scavenge for snacks?"

She sucked at this class.

Not to worry, Topher sucked at it just as badly!

"Think they could find us some donuts?" Topher wondered. "I'm pretty hungry."

"Fat cakes," Sam decided. "Those never go bad."

"Good call." Topher had experienced the joy of fat cakes the first time he'd met Sam. It was possible that he was hooked forever. "You wanna ask, or should I?"

"What is this 'ask' you speak of?" Sam turned to the Danger Shop NPCs milling closest. "Hey minions! Fat cakes! Chop-chop!"

Man, would those NPCs regret electing Sam leader.

"Niiiice," Topher said approvingly. He hadn't considered the idea of just ordering them to get him stuff.

Then he peered after them, wondering if they would actually do it.

"Uh, Miss Leader," said one of the NPCs. Are you sure we should --"

Sam gave her a Look.

The NPC eeped and nodded. "Provisions! Good idea!" And they scurried off to go try and find fat cakes.

"Man, I'm awesome," Sam said.

"Impressive," Topher agreed. Then, eager to show off his own awesomeness, he tapped a nearby NPC on the shoulder. "Please get me a red silk shirt."

The NPC didn't move.

"Aw, man."

"You've gotta be firm, dude." Sam glared at the NPC. "You heard the man! Get to it!"

The NPC scurried away.

Then Topher told another one, "You too! Now! Go! Or no toy robots!"

...no, his parents had never said that to him, why do you ask?

Hey, whatever worked. Sam pointed to another NPC. "You! Go find me a throne!"

When the NPC hesitated, Sam roared.

She had an interesting way of dealing with people.

"And juice boxes!" Topher added. "Grape!"

To Sam, he clucked his tongue and said, "If she comes back with apple, things are gonna get ugly."

He didn't like apple.

Sam would be curious to see Topher "get ugly". "Hey, gotta draw the line somewhere or they'll walk all over you."

He would probably just whine and stomp his foot. Which would be ugly, but not all that terrifying.

"'s true," he agreed. "What if they bring you expired fat cakes?"

Sam gave him a somewhat withering look.

"Fat cakes don't expire. They'd survive a nuclear holocaust."

"There dairy in them?"

"If you can pronounce it, it's not in them."

"Any diglycerides?"

He could pronounce that.

Sam stared at him. "Okay, if I can pronounce it, it's not in them."

She had no idea if there were diglistening whosits in fat cakes.

"Di-gly-cer-ides," Topher repeated, nice and slowly, so that Sam could learn.

"I - can - punch - you - in - the - face," Sam said back, just as nice and slowly.

She didn't need none of that book-learning!

Topher took two steps back, hands up.

"There's no need for that!"

"Just making sure you know what's what, dude."

"So was I! Teaching you new vocabulary!"

"Did I ask to learn new vocabulary?"
