Oz had his class meet him in the Danger Shop this week, where they'd find themselves in a fortified encampment in the midst of a seemingly deserted town. "So far we've focused on the theoretical side of not being evil," he began once the class had finished arriving. "And let's face it, it's easier to figure out evil versus good when it's presented in a purely hypothetical manner, it starts getting trickier out in the real world, or simulations of such, especially when you're in a position of power and responsibility, or in times of great stress. When it's both, boy, are you in trouble."

Three guesses what today's class was going to involve.

"You may have noticed our lovely surroundings, well it turns out that while we weren't looking, your typical zombie apocalypse happened, but luckily for you, you managed to make it back to what's left of civilisation, you even found a small group of survivors, and then they made you their chief. Which means your job today is to try and rebuild this decaying husk back into something resembling a town, while keeping people's tasty brainmeats inside their heads. I'm sure you'll handle any moral dilemmas that crop up along the way just fine."

Sam would be curious to see Topher "get ugly". "Hey, gotta draw the line somewhere or they'll walk all over you."

He would probably just whine and stomp his foot. Which would be ugly, but not all that terrifying.

"'s true," he agreed. "What if they bring you expired fat cakes?"

Sam gave him a somewhat withering look.

"Fat cakes don't expire. They'd survive a nuclear holocaust."

"There dairy in them?"

"If you can pronounce it, it's not in them."

"Any diglycerides?"

He could pronounce that.

Sam stared at him. "Okay, if I can pronounce it, it's not in them."

She had no idea if there were diglistening whosits in fat cakes.

"Di-gly-cer-ides," Topher repeated, nice and slowly, so that Sam could learn.

"I - can - punch - you - in - the - face," Sam said back, just as nice and slowly.

She didn't need none of that book-learning!

Topher took two steps back, hands up.

"There's no need for that!"

"Just making sure you know what's what, dude."

"So was I! Teaching you new vocabulary!"

"Did I ask to learn new vocabulary?"

"Did I ask to be punched in the face?"

"Yes," Sam said. "You tried to teach me new vocabulary."

Really, this wasn't hard to figure out.

Just then, an NPC showed up with a 24-pack of grape juice boxes. Effectively distracted, Topher proceeded to open the pack, stick a straw in one of them, and drink the entire thing while pointedly not looking at Sam.

He did not want to be punched today.

Sam rolled her eyes. What was this guy, five?

An NPC showed up with a box of Twinkies.

"What the hell are these things?"

"Twinkies," Topher pointed out. "They have digly-- Never mind."

"I asked for fat cakes." Sam glared at the NPC. "Go out and find me fat cakes!"

"But -- but the zombies --"

Sam roared. The NPC fled.

"Yoooou... are sometimes kind of scary," Topher evaluated.

"Yep," Sam agreed easily. "But I'm also adorable."

"N-- whatever you say."

He was learning!

He was.

"You should get me a soda," Sam suggested.

Topher considered it, then looked mournfully at his juice boxes.

"Wouldn't you rather some grape juice?"

"Nope. Soda. Fetch."
