Library, Tuesday

Rinoa was in a wonderful mood today. She was still doing research, but it was geared towards transitioning countries out of occupations and back towards running their own government. She also needed to plan a trip back to Timber, to talk to people and find out who should be in charge of the starting committee.

Not Zone and Watts. They'd be angry at her for saying it, but ... they didn't have the gravitas for this. Maybe she could find something unimportant for them to do, off to the side, that had an important name.

She was also suddenly glad that her father wasn't making any public moves until she had her committee in place.

The library was open, even if its librarian's aide was digging through governmental tomes today.

Hopefully Rinoa liked coffee.

"Jack," Rinoa said warmly. Okay, Jack might get a hug, if he didn't mind being hugged by a little sis who was knee-deep in big heavy military books and it wasn't a mod or anything.

"My dad's still a jerk but he actually listened to me for once," she said. "He's going to let me set up a committee in Timber and pull the troops out, isn't that incredible?"

Yes. Since Jack had the vaguest idea what she was talking about, right there.

"Oh! Your sister! How is she???"

Oh, hey, hug away I say.

"That's great!" Jack exclaimed having not the slighttest clue about what a committee about wood has to do with pulling troops out. "At least.. I think it's great? If you say it is. Are we talking about Timber being a place or is this some ecological thing I don't know about? Oh, and my sister was great. Kept her away from boys and any potential booze."

Plus she didn't fall into a life threatening situation like she seems to back home every week. Score.

"It's a country," Rinoa said, letting go and swiping her cup of a coffee. "It's been under occupation for twenty years because the people in charge of Galbadia are all soulless monsters. Except my father who is actually going to maybe start not being such a gigantic asshole."

Daddy issues plus global politics. The world was totally screwed.

"Did you guys get to talk?" she asked. "I mean, when you were keeping her away from boys and booze and anything else that was fun. About ... the whole family stuff."

"We're giving him time to see if he reverts to his old ways," Rinoa decided, completely on the fly. "I ... I actually don't know. I didn't expect him to be rational about this. It's all confusing and weird. So I'm waiting for it to go back to how things usually are."

"Thanks," she said, offering him a quick smile. "It'll come in handy, I'm sure. So what did your little sister think of Fandom? Besides the fact that it isn't any fun, since you didn't let her have any."

"See, if you had let her get into trouble, she'd believe you," she laughed. "But I'm glad you kept her away from the gremlins. Those are just ... bad news."

She'd avoided them so far. She felt like just thinking that was jinxing something.
