The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

Though he'd heard about something like it being in the works, the club fair wasn't what Simon had been looking for.

Regardless, it was what he found, just as it was being set up. He almost left straight away, to avoid being in anyone's way, but then his curiosity won out. So, he decided to stay and take a look at the club schedule.

Couldn't hurt, could it?

Simon was wandering around, curious. His old school in England hadn't really been big on extracurricular activities.

He had no idea if he was going to sign up for anything, though.

"So. Tappa Kegga Beer? Or Apathy Club?" Kenzi had snuck up on Simon. Or, well, tried. Who knew if that worked on a ninjaaaaaa.

It was sadly very easy to sneak up on this particular ninja. He was visibly stratled when she appeared. "Uh. I don't know?"

"Haven't had a chance to look around yet?" Kenzi had another cupcake. Nom nom nom nom. "Pride has fooood."

"I already ate." Nice one, Simon. "But I haven't really... looked, no."

"Do you want to join one?" Kenzi broke off a bite of her cupcake, and offered it to him. Hey, he might get her another one! "I know I'm not going to be a cheerleader."

Simon took the offered bit of cupcake, shaking his head. "Me neither," he said, in case anyone had assumed there was a chance he'd be a cheerleader. "I don't know if any of them are for me."

"I joined Pride. To show support and all," she clarified. "Mostly as far as I can tell I'm straight. Also, they had food. And Petra's cool."

"Are those good reasons to join?"

It was a sincere question, because he didn't really know. This cub thing was a little foreign to him.

"The food thing is shallow, and if they don't give out cupcakes at the meetings you're doomed to disappointment." Kenzi grinned and bit into hers again, humming happily. "But showing support is good. And hanging with cool people is fun. At least I think so. You're not much of a joiner, are you?"

"Not really, no," he admitted, with a soft, quiet chuckle. Half embarrassed. "We didn't... have clubs, at my old school."

"Then it depends on why you want to join," Kenzi said, grinning back. "I mean, some people want it for their college applications and all. But you, you're going to be a superhero, so. Either for fun or for super-hero-ish reasons, you know?"

"I don't know if any of these clubs are really either," Simon mused, quickly glancing around, trying to hide... something, at the superhero comment. "I'm not really the frat type."

Kenzi nodded, and shrugged, then grinned and said, "We can still get some pizza. Or more cupcakes!"

Mercy wasn't sure about this whole club thing, but thought she'd at least check it out. She smiled when she saw Simon. "Hey, how's it going?"

"Hello, Mercy," Simon nodded at her with a brief smile. "It's... a club fair." That didn't really answer her question. "I mean, I've never been at one before."

"Me neither," she said, looking around a little uncertainly. "Aspen Creek was too small for this stuff, I guess, and I only went into the big public high school by my mom's at the end of the year last year."

"Have you seen anything you might like yet?" Simon wondered, giving the room a cursory glance of his own. "They have a... sorority?"

She made a face. "I don't know. I've never really thought of myself as the sorority type. I'm not sure Pride or Cheerleading for me, and definitely not Apathy. You?"

"Kenzi advertised Pride," Simon offered. "They had good cupcakes."

And he was feeling drawn to a supportive environment like that.

"Can you join even if you're not an LGBT or Q?" she asked. "'Cause, you know, I like the idea of it and all - why should anybody be picked on because of who they choose to love or be? - but I'm pretty straight myself."

"M-me too," Simon replied quickly. "But Kenzi said they let staright..." What was the word? "Allies, they let straight allies join, too."

She was kind of glad to hear he was straight, even though he already had a girlfriend back home.

"Huh... maybe that's something I could do then."

"I think I might join," he offered with a little shrug. "It has a good cause."

She nodded. "Yeah. I think I could get behind that. And if I already know someone there it will be easier."
