The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

Though he'd heard about something like it being in the works, the club fair wasn't what Simon had been looking for.

Regardless, it was what he found, just as it was being set up. He almost left straight away, to avoid being in anyone's way, but then his curiosity won out. So, he decided to stay and take a look at the club schedule.

Couldn't hurt, could it?

"Are those good reasons to join?"

It was a sincere question, because he didn't really know. This cub thing was a little foreign to him.

"The food thing is shallow, and if they don't give out cupcakes at the meetings you're doomed to disappointment." Kenzi grinned and bit into hers again, humming happily. "But showing support is good. And hanging with cool people is fun. At least I think so. You're not much of a joiner, are you?"

"Not really, no," he admitted, with a soft, quiet chuckle. Half embarrassed. "We didn't... have clubs, at my old school."

"Then it depends on why you want to join," Kenzi said, grinning back. "I mean, some people want it for their college applications and all. But you, you're going to be a superhero, so. Either for fun or for super-hero-ish reasons, you know?"

"I don't know if any of these clubs are really either," Simon mused, quickly glancing around, trying to hide... something, at the superhero comment. "I'm not really the frat type."

Kenzi nodded, and shrugged, then grinned and said, "We can still get some pizza. Or more cupcakes!"

"Cupcakes are good, I like cupcakes," Simon agreed with another twitch of a smile. "And pizza. They really serve a lot of food at this school."

"I am totally in favor of this. Is there a job you can grow up and just eat food? 'Cause I want to do that." Kenzi wandered closer to the Frat guys table, trying to decide if taking some and walking off, or actually stopping to talk to Warren was a better plan. "How 'bout you? Or is ninjaaa gonna be your day job too?"

Simon's smile got a little tighter, there. "I haven't really... thought about it," he lied. Or maybe it wasn't much of a lie, if it was more like he had his reasons not to want to think about it. "I don't think I'll do anything related to food though."

Kenzi tilted her head, picking up on the deception, but without a handle on what it was, deciding not to call him on it much. "Well, I don't want to work fast food. That lasted all of three weeks. Ugh. Polyester and grease and handsy managers. No thank you." She picked up a pizza slice and started to nibble. "So what did you do at your old school, just study?" Her view of English schools might have been a little warped by Wes.

Well, Simon wasn't going to correct those views. "Just study," he said. "I wasn't very... I didn't do extracurricular activities."

Not unless getting either bullied or ignored counted.

"Do you want to? I mean, it's cool if you don't," Kenzi said, settling in with the food. "But you're here in the gym and all."

"I didn't know this was happening today," he explained. "I'm still just... wondering. About the clubs."

"All I know is the Pride one is for if you're gay or lesbian or transsexual or bisexual or queer or something, or willing to support people who are." She considered. "Also, Quinn runs the sorority, but I don't want to irritate her so much that I'd join anyway."

"I don't think I'm going to join the sorority, either." That was an attempt at a joke. "But I could... consider the Pride one?"

Kenzi beamed at him. "Yay! Also, more cupcakes." She grinned. "And Petra's real cool."

"I'll trust your judgment on that." He didn't think himself much of a judge of anyone's coolness. His standards were a little different from most people's. "But I hope you're right."
