The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

Though he'd heard about something like it being in the works, the club fair wasn't what Simon had been looking for.

Regardless, it was what he found, just as it was being set up. He almost left straight away, to avoid being in anyone's way, but then his curiosity won out. So, he decided to stay and take a look at the club schedule.

Couldn't hurt, could it?

George couldn't believe she was running this again.

... yes, she could. This was kind of her favorite method of socialization. Anti-socialization. Whatever. It was a club. It was their club. Nobody else had to understand it.

She had, like usual, made up a sign in black sharpie, to read APATHY CLUB.

And she was flopped on the table like it was physically painful for her to be here, considering how bored she was.

Just like old times.

But was she going to stay bored if a cheerful rich boy just happened to stop by her table? That was the question.

And they were about to find out. "Hey, George."

And now, Jeremy got to watch George attempt to look cool and fail! She was still totally disaffected and cool, mind you. A lot. Really.

"H-hey," she said. Trying for casual. "What, uh ... what are you ... doing here?"

Somewhere between panicking and flirting: the most attractive state she could muster, at the moment. See also: most of the time.

Please, do not let him mock her stupid club ...

Like Jeremy had it in him to mock anyone! ...At least to their faces. Not that he was going to mock her or her club.

"Well, y'know," he shrugged with an easy smile. "Saw there was another one of these shindigs so I decided to check it out."

To be fair, it was a pretty stupid club. But it was their stupid club.

"I can't believe I'm here," she sighed, facepalming. "I'm not really a joiner."

She gestured at the table. "This was a smart-ass form submission that was supposed to get me detention."

"Looks like it didn't work," Jeremy smirked, then actually took a look at her table. "Oh, hey, I remember this club! Didn't you already run this in the spring? How desperate are you for detention?"

Kidding!

Okay, so now she was blushing.

"It, uh, it was supposed to get me detention ... last year," she explained, sheepishly. "It's kind of tradition, now."

Read: she liked hanging out with her non-club and hated admitting it.

"It is way harder getting detention here than I realized," she added. "So, uh, did you ... join anything?"

Seifer was going to just pull up and chair and flop beside George. "I'll sign up."

"Awesome," George said, handing him the sharpie. "We meet up every week and ... kind of do nothing. If you expect more out of the club, I'll kick you out. Except I won't because that sounds like effort and I don't feel like fucking running the thing. Write your name down or something."

Seifer did as he was told, jotting down his name halfheartedly. "Do we get to listen to music?"

"Do you plan on bringing music?" George asked.

This was important.

"Well, if the meetings are on Fridays, yeah." He'd bring new stuff from the store.

"Then yes," George said. "Bring music, and fuck yeah, we'll listen to music."

Pause.

"So long as you bring a music player and whatever else and I don't have to, like, remember shit."

It was Apathy Club. They were lucky she bothered to show up every week. Asking more than that was out of the question.

Squall narrowed his eyes at Seifer. "What are you doing here?"

Technically, that wasn't yelling at him, so that was all right, wasn't it?

Seifer pointed at George and grinned at Squall.

"Supporting my roommate."

So... one of his best friends was Seifer's roommate.

That was all KINDS of good, except in the way that it wasn't.

"Are you going to be in the club?"

The blond pointed at where his name was already scrawled on the list.

Squall snorted. "Don't ruin it," he ordered.

The Apathy Club was one of his favorite parts of Fandom.

"...Hey," Squall greeted her.

Translation: HELL, yes, he was signing up again.

"Yo," George said, in a completely toneless voice. She held out the sheet of paper in his direction.

Translation: oh, good. It woudn't be the same without him.

Squall scrawled his name on the sign-up sheet. "...Him?" he asked, gesturing at Seifer.

George frowned. That was unexpected.

"My roommate?" she said.

"Don't trust him," Squall growled.

Whether that was "I don't" or "you shouldn't", he didn't clarify.

"... Okaaaaaaay," George said. "This isn't gonna be a thing, is it?"

She really didn't care if her roommate and her kind-of-good-friend were all hate-dom OTPs at each other, but they weren't going to suck during Apathy Club about it, were they?
