The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

Though he'd heard about something like it being in the works, the club fair wasn't what Simon had been looking for.

Regardless, it was what he found, just as it was being set up. He almost left straight away, to avoid being in anyone's way, but then his curiosity won out. So, he decided to stay and take a look at the club schedule.

Couldn't hurt, could it?

But was she going to stay bored if a cheerful rich boy just happened to stop by her table? That was the question.

And they were about to find out. "Hey, George."

And now, Jeremy got to watch George attempt to look cool and fail! She was still totally disaffected and cool, mind you. A lot. Really.

"H-hey," she said. Trying for casual. "What, uh ... what are you ... doing here?"

Somewhere between panicking and flirting: the most attractive state she could muster, at the moment. See also: most of the time.

Please, do not let him mock her stupid club ...

Like Jeremy had it in him to mock anyone! ...At least to their faces. Not that he was going to mock her or her club.

"Well, y'know," he shrugged with an easy smile. "Saw there was another one of these shindigs so I decided to check it out."

To be fair, it was a pretty stupid club. But it was their stupid club.

"I can't believe I'm here," she sighed, facepalming. "I'm not really a joiner."

She gestured at the table. "This was a smart-ass form submission that was supposed to get me detention."

"Looks like it didn't work," Jeremy smirked, then actually took a look at her table. "Oh, hey, I remember this club! Didn't you already run this in the spring? How desperate are you for detention?"

Kidding!

Okay, so now she was blushing.

"It, uh, it was supposed to get me detention ... last year," she explained, sheepishly. "It's kind of tradition, now."

Read: she liked hanging out with her non-club and hated admitting it.

"It is way harder getting detention here than I realized," she added. "So, uh, did you ... join anything?"

"Just the frat," he replied, smiling a bit at that blush. Hey, it was cute. "I think that might be enough. Wouldn't wanna go, you know, overboard."

Because his schedule was so tough. Truly.

"So, lots of drinking beer and trying to pick up freshman girls?" she teased.

"Got it in one," Jeremy replied, jokingly. "That's pretty much the whole fraternity thing, right?"

"It's certainly the stereotype," she agreed. "You can tell me whether or not it lives up to the hype."

She flushed. "I didn't bother with the sorority," she added. "It's not really my thing."

Big shock, eh?

"Jules was in the sorority in the spring, but I don't know if she's doing it again now," he shrugged. "It's not for everyone, I guess. To each their own."

"I'm not dissing it," she said, quickly. Okay, once upon a time she would have been, and she still thought they were kind of ... silly and flaky, maybe, but ... yeah.

"It's not like my club's any better," she said. "We do nothing. That's the entire club. All of it."

"Hmm." Jeremy took a renewed long look at her sign, stroking his chin as if pondering something important, though mostly it was just for show. "So," he started then, "does zoning out count as nothing and apathetic enough?"

Because he was really, really, really good at that. For hours at a time, even.

"So long as you don't mind the rest of us bitching and moaning," George said.

Was bitching and moaning really apathetic? Sure! It counted! Basically, anything they felt like that particular week counted. It wasn't a very structured club.

She brightened slightly at the implication.

"You ... looking to fill your schedule?" she asked.

Jeremy smiled. "Well, I don't have any classes after Thursday, and end of the week does sometimes feel a little empty here..."

Whenever Fandom wasn't going crazy, that was.

"And you can probably stomach the people involved," she said, trying to sound fake-serious. Hoping that she looked flirty. Did she look flirty? She had no idea how people looked flirty on purpose.

It was a tricky thing, wasn't it? Well, it wasn't to him, but he was special that way.

"I think I would be more than fine with the people involved," he smirked.

"It's just me so far," she said. "And my roommate, and probably Squall. That guy who says 'whatever' a lot."

She didn't know that her roommate and Squall were, like, mortal enemies or something. That could get interesting.

She handed him the sign-up sheet.

"Join our un-merry band," she said. "I forgot to ask how your weekend was. Who were you?"

"Oh, I was me," he said, as he went to sign himself up. "Except I got married to some girl and then she poisoned me and left my body in the park."

George couldn't decide if she was amused, jealous, or both.

"You were dead?" she said. Good thing she didn't get a Post-It. She'd had to reap one cute guy she liked. That had sucked enough. "That had to be weird."

And then, because she had to be lame, "... was she pretty?"

Jeremy shrugged a shoulder. "I guess," he said. "But I'm a little hung up on how she killed me. And before that I was just so totally in love that I can't really tell what my actual thoughts are, you know?"

"How did she kill you?" George asked. This was standard conversation for reapers, after all. "Did you know her, before? Or was she just ... some girl?"

"She put poison in my wine." Which, sadly, seemed like a pretty plausible way for a Darling to die. Especially this one. "And yeah, I didn't know her. Actually, I don't even really remember meeting her that day, most of my memories are from the wedding."

And straight after.

"And where she killed you," George added. "That part would probably stick out."

"Totally does," Jeremy agreed. "That was pretty traumatic."

And yet he managed to be... not really all that traumatized.
