Aesthetics of Badassery [Monday, Period One]

Today's class was in the Danger Shop, which had been set up to resemble a large dressing area with an even larger variety of clothing, and a number of NPC tailors darted about the place. A table was set up safely away from the clothing with the promised coffee and pastries.

"One of the first steps towards being a badass is looking like one," Bond began once the class had arrived. "How you dress is one of the first things about you that people will notice, and picking the right clothes will give the right impression. Which isn't to say that one size fits all, as different situations will call for different ensembles, and the Saville Row suit that's perfect for getting advantage during a business meeting would look absolutely ridiculous on a beach."

"Which is why we'll be spending today's class putting together outfits, complete from head to toe, with shoes and accessories, for several different occasions. Think about why you're choosing each item, and what impression you want to give off."

Jeremy looked much more alive this week than he had the last time around. He also looked like he was almost bouncing, because clothes.

He happened to fancy himself pretty good at dressing up, yes.

A class devoted to dressing up? Caroline looked both thrilled and smug at the same time. Strange how her face could do that...

Bobby kind of thought that if he (and Jack) were attending a dinner with all these people, they'd have to be more worried about making sure their mom didn't scare the President and Queen and SecGen than what their clothes looked like.

He was pretty sure people didn't go to formal dinners armed with more questions and challenges than the entire DC press core.

This one was easy and Jake went for a tuxedo with bowtie because he somehow managed to pull it off. For someone who went shirtless a lot, he cleaned up pretty well.

Obviously this was a seriously boring dinner, but that didn't mean the dress Caroline selected was boring at all. She thought she pulled off the backless look well.

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
He figured you'd wear a suit for this. And a tie obviously. And Bobby had figured out that when a kid wore a suit, people automatically think they're awesome so he wasn't terribly worried.

Jake's dream job involved cars and grease, so he left the suit out and went for jeans and a dark blue button down shirt instead. With leather jacket.

Jobs and Caroline? Obviously this was a dream where being a high class housewife was a career she could interview for with Mrs. Lockwood. But her interview wear was decent enough, if painfully gray. At least she tried to make it interesting with a colorful scarf and shoes.

She wondered if she could take the shoes with her...

Okay, he was totally out of his element here. ...date?

The only date Bobby had been on was a makeout session in the changing closet at the secondhand store Dex worked out.

Jake went with the vineyard for some reason. Maybe because he wanted to stay create. As much as one could be creative with clothes (oh god, Caroline was going to kill him for that thought).

So he went with a more casual suite. Beige jacket (which he'd be getting rid off eventually) and pants and a light blue shirt. No tie.

She had to choose? It was actually a painful few moments while she complained to no one before finally settling on Fiji and an adorable bikini with a nicely sheer sarong to keep things PG-13 for certain tiny boys in class who might pass out at the sight of a thong.

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Bobby had turned to ask Caroline for help since Jack would just mock him. Except she was... not wearing anything that resembled real clothes. He needed to turn around and forget he ever saw that.

Seriously, he did.

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Caroline couldn't help noticing Bobby lingering in the clothes and she bounced over to see if he needed help and to share the slight change in her campaign. "Hey you!" She tapped him on the shoulder with a smile. "I have something for you la-ter!" Her sing-song tone and suggestive wink totally said free brownie, right?

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Watch Bobby attempt to sort through words in his head while keeping his eyes way, way above her head.

Don't look down, Bobby. Don't look down.

"I don't need anything!" he squeaked, his voice at least two octaves above his regular register.

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Aw, but I was hoping to persuade you!" Caroline frowned, hands on her hips as she tried to figure out why he was looking up. "...what are you we looking at, Bobby?"

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
"...Persuade me for what?" Bobby asked, still avoiding the whole...area of Caroline's unclad body. He wondered if someone could actually die from girlness. He'd totally be the one to do it.

"Uh...nothing?" he replied, looking down and seeing what was at his eye level. His cheeks and ears flamed bright red as he looked up to find her eyes.

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, she'd been looking up too, assuming there was something going on with the danger shop ceiling but nope, nothing.

"Uh, right, I made up some campaign hand outs! Purchased blue frosted brownies, individually wrapped by moi with the appropriately colored ribbon and little cards with a simple catchphrase. Wanna hear it?"

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing to look at here. Just Bobby dying by very slow, red inches.

"Oh! Really? That sounds awesome!" Bobby said, trying to be more excited than dying of embarrassment. "I'd love to hear it!"

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that color on his face didn't look right. "Do you have a rash?" Caroline asked, reaching out to feel his forehead. "You're all hot...Oh, that's not my campaign! It goes like this: Vote Caroline Forbes, your choice for a voice in 2012!" Should she stop touching him now? His cheeks were all warm and she was a little worried since he wasn't exactly a werewolf who should feel that way.

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
He had to jump back because if she kept touching him, he'd be embarrassing himself in class.

"I'm fine!" Bobby's voice had gone squeaky again, and he was seriously about to die of embarrassment. "Not sick!" Bobby coughed, realising he had to reply about the other thing. "Why 2012? It's not 2012 yet?"

Focus on dates, good Bobby.

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
If he wasn't sick, acting all jumpy and making his voice go high was so not the way to make himself seem okay. "Well, because the whole election thing goes from twenty-eleven through twenty-twelve and I wouldn't want my voters getting the idea I wasn't forward-thinking," she explained. "But the cards just tell voters to make their ballots count and the election date. I wanted to make sure no one missed the opportunity to vote for me."

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
She was excited and bouncy and...this conversation was going nowhere good.

"That sounds great!" Bobby said quickly. He looked down again because he really had or he'd no longer be allowed to call himself a teenage boy (even one raised by Grace McCallister).

"I gotta go! Um, over there," Bobby managed to form the words with difficulty. "TA stuff! Bye!"

And he fled. Like a fleeing fleer who flees. Because she needed to put more clothes on before he could hold a conversation.

Re: Scenario Three - AoB [02]

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Gotta go?" Caroline didn't understand. She turned her head, lifting her shoulder to her chin and giving a general sniff in case like, actual human-ish odor was causing her friends to literally run from her. "Can he smell the vampire thing?" Not that she expected anyone to listen to her when Bobby had already shown off his sprinting skills and she was left shrugging and going to find some sandals to match her bikini top.

[identity profile] notlikejack.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Bobby was never planning on being in this situation. But if he was, he'd probably want a bulletproof vest. And to wear black? Or was that too obvious. Hmm.

[identity profile] need-no-moon.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Jake didn't accessorise. He was a werewolf. Black pants, black shirt and the leather jacket seemed adequate. He thought. God, he honestly didn't know.

That one would not be Bobby. But he was here and watching everyone else's clothes choices.
