Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Once people got through their introductions and initial brain breaking, some of them would surely want to sit down. Luckily, there were plenty of tables and chairs set up across the lawn, some in the shade, some out in the open, some close to the buffet, and some in as much of a shadowy corner as one could get in an outdoor space with no actual walls. It was all part of the Fandom experience, really.

"Really? Everyone looks at me funny when I do it, but I think it's so much fun!"

Rapunzel frowned slightly. "Do you think they'll look at me funny, too?"

She didn't want that! She wanted people to like her, not think she was weird!

"Maybe," Pinkie said honestly. "But that just means that they're not having as much fun as you are. Or that they don't realize that music is the only way to get rid of parasprites."

"That makes--"

Wait.

"What are parasprites?" Rapunzel asked, a sudden look of worry settling onto her features. Were those some of the bad things that mother had warned her about?

"They're cute little bugs about the size of your hoof that eat all the food and multiply exponentially. But don't worry, I haven't seen any of them around here."

Oh, that was a relief. Rapunzel let out a little sigh.

"I don't have hoofs." So she was probably safe from parasprites.

Oh! And Pinkie Pie had said she hadn't seen any, anyway.

"You don't! I've always been curious how you ponies walk around with no hooves."

Rapunzel giggled. "I'm not a pony!"

Obviously!

"Are you a hairless bear? 'Cause that's my next guess."

How the heck had Pinkie gone two months without having this conversation yet?

Which only served to make Rapunzel giggle some more. "Nooooooooo."

"I'm a human." Wasn't that obvious? Rapunzel thought it was obvious!

"Oh neat! I've never heard of humans before!"

"Really?" Rapunzel gasped, eyes wide in surprise.

"Really really! We don't have anything like you guys back home in Equestria."

"Oh, really? Equestria must be a very interesting place, then!"

Maybe even as interesting as this island!

"I guess. This place is the really weird one, though. Do you know, weather here just happens. No one controls it at all!"

Rapunzel blinked. "You mean someone controls the weather in Equestria?"

That sounded so weird!

"Well yeah! The pegasus ponies make it all in Cloudsdale and then the rest of us help out with cleaning up the seasons!"

"Really?" That sounded so different from what she knew about the world!

Though, to be fair, she didn't know that much about weather. Maybe pegasi made weather back home, too. But she hadn't seen any, and she did spend a lot of time looking at the sky.

"Yup! I help break up the ice on the lakes in the winter!"

"Oh. That sounds neat! But like a lot of work."

"Oh, it is, but we don't mind. It's pretty fun, really."

"Do you still have to do that here?" Rapunzel asked.

"Oh, I don't know! I haven't been here for a winter wrap-up yet!"

"Oh. So you're new, too?"

"Sort of. I've been here a couple of months, now."
