Try Not to Die!!!! [Tuesday, August 9]

There was only one Jedi waiting at the causeway for students to show up, and it wasn't Anakin.

"Hi, everyone," Tahiri said, drawing on her Jedi training to maintain a calm demeanor; no need to alarm people. "Master Skywalker can't be here today, it seems."

She gestured across the causeway to the Disney castle (then back to Fandom's castle, then back to the Disney one again with a slight shake of her head) before turning back to the students with a slight smile. "But as you might have guessed by now, that doesn't mean you won't be exploring our new location. I assure you, it's much safer than the last one." Actually, given the aggressive cheerfulness of their new neighboring locale, that might be debatable.

She cleared her throat, glanced around the group, and continued. "I advise you not to take it for granted that this will be simple, despite our surroundings, so keep that in mind, and . . ." Tahiri gestured toward the clue box as she stepped away. "Try not to die, or kill anyone else. Please."

Given some of the students in the class, and the fact that she was sending them into Disneyland, that second bit was a perfectly valid concern.

Oh, Jim had a lot of catching up to do after his fourth trip through that ride, and so help him, he wasn't going on any more rides today if he could help it. So... autographs. Those weren't so difficult to get. He didn't have his solar surfer here for this, but he could run and jump with the best of them, and while he wasn't so familiar with crowds, avoiding obstacles was something he excelled at.

Now he just had to wiggle his way to the people in the crazy costumes around the little kids who wanted to get their turn first.

Sigh.

Since she'd gotten through the first task so quickly, Annie took a little bit of time to try and work out where all the characters would be and the fastest way to get between all of them.

And then she booked it.

Finding the characters at the right time wasn't too hard with the way she'd planned it out. The hard part was trying to get through the lines and quietly sneaking ahead of people to try and get there faster. What, you thought she wouldn't try to linejump for a class assignment at the Happiest Place on Earth? She not only tried it, she succeeded, and maybe looked kind of happy in all the pictures she got taken with the characters. Except for that one where she blinked.

Sam was doing pretty well here until her fifth character. She managed to get to the photo-op just after Eeyore had already left.

And what little patience Sam had went whooshing right out of the park.

This was how Sam ended up chasing a poor cast member in a depressed donkey suit halfway across Discoveryland only to take them down with a flying tackle outside of Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast -- and would have probably gotten tossed from the park if she hadn't managed to somehow pin the blame on a nearby surly-looking ten year old.

Yeah, Sam was classy.

Spock thought the wisest course today would be not dealing with the crowds, so he opted for tracking down the characters. It took a while, especially when some of the characters tried to get him to smile for the photos, because that was not happening.

Cara was really in no mood for dealing with large groups of people, but even less for a wild goose chase, so crowds it was. You could almost see the bubble of people with enough survival instincts to avoid the cranky Mord'Sith form around her.

A very slow moving bubble.

Seifer was actually liking this place. It was fun, there were things to do, and he was totally spending the rest of the day here after class. Hell, probably the last week.

As it was, he was having fun with this detour, stopping at the stands and getting his tokens.

And if he used the line 'Coming through, need to get to my sister before she blows up my credit card' more than a dozen times... well, it got the parents to grin and move their kids.

Lion-o felt he could deal with crowds, and he liked how this option had a definite plan instead of chasing various characters all over the park.

He did take some time at the ice cream cart to pick up a treat for himself. Yes, it was a race, but he needed to carbs to keep up his energy, right?

Hank hadn't meant to, but somehow he managed to get shoved into being part of the parade, at the head of a visiting school's marching band, twirling a baton. These sort of things just kind of happened to him accidentally from time to time.

Still, it was LOTS of fun, and he didn't have all that much trouble getting to the carts along the way, because the band followed him when he left the main parade route. It was AMAZING how quickly the crowds parted when the alternative was to get a trombone slide in the face.

Navigating the crowds wasn't too difficult for Bruce since he didn't mind shoving adults a little. The real trouble came with getting to the carts. There were just too many kids, and he wasn't going to shove them. That slowed him down a little.

Thanks, but Mercy would prefer to avoid huge crowds, thank you very much. The smells were overwhelming (seriously, who needed that much aftershave and perfume!) and the noise hurt her ears.

Wandering through Disneyland was actually fun, so Mercy didn't hurry as much as she could have.
