True Heroism! The Olympian Way! Session 4, Period 3

Once the class had gathered (inside the Danger Shop again, blasted cold), Hercules switched on the simulation. The class found itself in a dank, dripping dungeon, lit only by torchlight. He wore his usual heroic outfit again, since they were in the comfort of the indoors.

"Today's class is simple. You are to explore the dungeon, and fight the dragon at the end for its treasure!" Hercule laughed. "You will find swords and armor in this room, if you do not have any yourselves. Teamwork shall be key, and be wary of traps and goblins. I'm told this is all very traditional, according to the documentaries on SyFy." He gestured to the ominous double wooden doors ahead. "This is a trial of courage and mettle. Both of which heroes and heroines need. Don't worry, you cannot be maimed by the computer. But if you'd suffer wounds too great, you will be sent back to the beginning."

He clapped his hands together. "Go forth and delve into the dungeon!"

Swords! Armor! Just like real life, right?

Gear up and ready yourselves to set out on your dungeon quest!

Please. Raven wasn't touching a sword, and she looked ridiculous in armor. She was fine the way she was, thank you very much.

But she wasn't happy about a fight, simulated or not.

Warren wasn't entirely certain if he needed to strap on a bunch of heavy armor even if he had a healing factor. It would weigh down his wings and just slow him down overall.

But then, he wasn't entirely certain that the danger shop would recognize that he didn't tend to stay injured, and so with a sigh, he pulled on a breastplate and some gauntlets, and opted to leave the rest behind. There was no way he was going to wear a helmet on top of the whole 'going underground' thing. That would be an excellent way to lead himself right into some sort of claustrophobic freakout.

Whatever, haters, Luke loved armor. He'd rather use his own and have Backbiter, but he was willing to use the school stuff provided for now. He'd kick ass either way.

At least Richie had a passing familiarity with swords. Enough to know how to hold one without accidentally lopping off any body parts. That didn't mean he could do anything useful with it, but he wasn't going to hurt himself or anyone else by accident. Probably.

For there are, indeed, traps of the moddable persuasion aplenty. Pitfalls, falling rocks, whatever you'd expect to find in a dungeon scenario based on a 'SyFy Documentary.'

Warren didn't even notice the booby-trapped cobblestone until the walls started closing in on either side of him. He broke into a run and managed to get to the other side before he could be fake-danger-shop-crushed, but he lost a couple of feathers in the process and needed to take a minute on the other side to sit down and breathe.

Raven wasn't clumsy, but she wasn't wise to the way of traps, so she set more than one off as she moved through the dungeon. Fortunately, she was quick to teleport before falling victim to dropping rocks or disappearing floors.

Avoiding traps was easy for Luke. When you set a lot of traps yourself you knew what to look for. He did end up setting off one of the booby trapped cobblestones he was able to avoid getting arrowed thanks to some quick moving.

Goblins! Giant spider-things! Ambushes just around the corner!

JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE.

This actually was like real life. Save for the recent acquisition of demigods trying to kill him as well. This sword was nowhere as good as Backbiter, but Luke dispatched the giant spider-things that attacked him easily.

OMGWTFBBQ DRAGON.

... And his treasure!

Raven didn't see why they were supposed to fight the dragon when as far as she knew, it hadn't done anything. The giant spiders and goblins weren't necessarily employed by the dragon, after all. And the dragons she'd met in Kaeleer were nice.

"Hello," she said, revealing herself to the dragon, prepared to teleport if talon or tail or gout of flame came at her. "I am told I am to fight you and take your treasure, but I do not think that is very fair to you without knowing the circumstances behind the request. Have you somehow acquired this wealth through violence and theft? If so, what need do you have for it? It serves no purpose merely lying here in a dungeon. Surely you can return it to those to whom it belongs and be none the worse for it. But if it is truly yours, then I certainly have no right to take it from you."

That's so Raven.
