Try Not To Die!! [Tuesday, July 5th]

Anyone who might have been nervous about showing up for the first day of a workshop with a worrisome name (and two exclamation points) to find an intimidating-looking teacher would get a pass on that today; rather than Anakin waiting for them all by the London docks they'd find Tahiri, hands tucked behind her back and her feet bare as always.

"Hello, everyone," she said rapidly but clearly once the students had assembled. "Master Skywalker's away today, but he'll be back next week. If any of you haven't gotten a chance to explore our new neighboring city yet, now's the day you get to do it."

She gestured to the clue box she stood beside. "Here's how this works: you have two tasks to complete by the end of the class period before you come check in with me -- no, I'm not telling you where to find me yet. Figuring that out'll be part of your job. And I'd really rather not have to explain any roster changes to Master Skywalker next week, so please." She stepped away from the clue box and gestured to the class. "Please try not to die."

Bruce figured that the roads would be packed with crazed buggy drivers, so he went with the mail wagons. He lost a little bit of the time he'd built up at the Road Block by trying to institute a more efficient loading system, while he also tried to get rid of any illicit deliveries.

The situation was resolved after only a few minutes, and Bruce was on his way.

Considering he was still cursed on the driving side of things, Nico went straight for the heavy lifting, working quickly though he needed a lot of guidance not to forget the stupid details about where to put things.

Lion-o opted to load one of the mail wagons, taking advantage of his strength. By finishing quickly, he was able to make up some of the time he'd lost on the road block.

Mercy picked a mail wagon, easily organizing and loading the deliveries. her sense of smell allowed her to easily root out anything illicit and she was on her way.

Jim had no idea what the hell the animals that were pulling the cart were supposed to be, and he kind of didn't want to be on the wrong end of a four-legged creature with hooves if it decided to kick. And so, just this once, he'd actually picked the option that didn't involve tearing around the streets like a bat out of hell.

Yay, sorting and lifting. Needless to say, after a few minutes of this, Jim was finding himself regretting not just taking his chances with the weird-looking animals.

Seifer chose the loading, and just did what the guys told him to. It was pretty easy to just shove in the packages they pointed at. He wasn't stupid enough to ask them what was in there, because he didn't have any weapons with him today.

And again, Scully was diverted by a sense of duty. And conforming with the rules. And... yeah.

Spock opted to take advantage of his greater-than-human strength and excellent organizational skills, and began loading the wagon.

This horse wasn't as intelligent as the ones in Fandom, but that didn't mean she didn't get the message imparted by Blind Seer's fangs nipping at the air near her hind legs loud and clear, urging her to go faster.

The decision to drive the buggy was prooobably what did it for Wes' place in this race. Because he sucked at it. Badly. The navigation aspect was easy, since he actually knew how to get there, but... yeah, he wasn't even a great driver with a car. With a buggy, he was that much worse.

Sam went for the buggy.

Denizens of Hyde Park beware.

"Get out of the way!" she shouted at them, as the galloping horse careened through the park. "We're bigger, we're going to win in a fight!"

This part went much faster than the previous leg. Of course, drivers probably weren't supposed to direct the horse by actually riding it.

Luke chose the buggy just because, well, it looked like more fun. He could use some of that. That is also where he found most of his trouble, which he completely blamed on Percy 'cause, you know, horses.

Of course it was Percy's fault. Of course.

Hank was ALL about driving. At first his horse wouldn't go faster than a walk, though. He shouted, and screamed "GIDDYAP", and tried smacking the horse's flanks, but NOTHING. Finally, he jumped up and stomped up and down on the top of the buggy and pitched a fit until the harness broke. He fell forward, saving himself from injury on the cobblestones by grabbing the horse's tail.

The horse, freed from its buggy and gripped with terror from the weight pulling at its tail, whinnied and sped off at a full gallop, careening through the park. Hank held on for dear life and screamed.

Driving the buggy looked cool -- and less physically labourious than loading the mail wagon -- so Marshall went for that.

Would have been easier to choose the mail wagon, Marshall.

He ended up making it -- eventually -- but there was mud down his side and chicken feathers in his hair. It was probably better not to ask.

Oh, like Jason wasn't going to take the opportunity to drive something! The horse was a little antsy for him, more than he expected though.

Annie thought this seemed the faster of the two options. She didn't account for how things had gone in the old west, though... at least not until she got stuck with a horse that just didn't want to cooperate.

You know yelling at them didn't help?
