Try Not To Die!! [Tuesday, July 5th]

Anyone who might have been nervous about showing up for the first day of a workshop with a worrisome name (and two exclamation points) to find an intimidating-looking teacher would get a pass on that today; rather than Anakin waiting for them all by the London docks they'd find Tahiri, hands tucked behind her back and her feet bare as always.

"Hello, everyone," she said rapidly but clearly once the students had assembled. "Master Skywalker's away today, but he'll be back next week. If any of you haven't gotten a chance to explore our new neighboring city yet, now's the day you get to do it."

She gestured to the clue box she stood beside. "Here's how this works: you have two tasks to complete by the end of the class period before you come check in with me -- no, I'm not telling you where to find me yet. Figuring that out'll be part of your job. And I'd really rather not have to explain any roster changes to Master Skywalker next week, so please." She stepped away from the clue box and gestured to the class. "Please try not to die."

Head into Vauxhall Gardens and find your way to one of the dance pavilions, where you'll have to attire yourself properly and learn several of the dance steps of the time period. Once you've mastered a couple of these to the instructor's satisfaction, you'll get your next clue.

The dressing... didn't take all that long, actually. All Firekeeper had to do was look expectantly at one of the female attendants until she helped lace up the dress Firekeeper selected. The dancing itself was easy, the steps similar to the sorts of dances Elise had made certain she knew in Hawk Haven.

London? Oh, Wesley knew all about London. But dancing? Not so much. Still, he rather thought his accent and his comprehensive knowledge of the area helped to sway the instructor in his favor, because he got out quickly enough and (clumsily) raced over to get his next clue.

This wasn't actually entirely true. Sam had been a pageant girl, after all. She had a bit of trouble with the petticoat, but otherwise got through it pretty easily.

As for the dancing, Sam already knew plenty about dancing, and seriously, these steps were way easier than tap.

It took a significant amount of time to get the message through that Cara was not wearing a dress. Not for a class. Not for anyone.

It took even longer for her to stumble through the dance steps well enough that the instructor gave up and handed her the clue.

With a name like "Try Not to Die!!!!," Bruce expected something a little more challenging than running through gardens, changing quickly, and learning some fancy footwork.

Of course, he'd trained for all of those things, so it probably wasn't a stunner that he found those tasks easy enough.

Luke was not even in the mood to complain about the ridiculous stuff he had to do in these classes. His heart wasn't really into anything he was doing but he got the dancing done quick enough.

Insane classes were a good distraction from life, but wow. Okay, this was something Nico really had to suck it up to get done, but that didn't mean he wasn't grumbling and kind of really hating that he had to wear tights more than that he had to do stupid dance moves.

...Over and over again because apparently he sucked at dancing.

Hank came out of the dressing room awfully grumpy. "I feel like a dweeb!!!" he complained, twirling daintily to show everyone how dweeby the evening gown and gloves made him look. "This sucks!!!"

It was even more embarrassing for the instructor, though, so Hank got his clue quickly and was shooed out of there despite not being all that good at the dance steps.

The clothing, Marshall thought, was even weirder than what they'd worn to go back in time to save Josie that one time, but he got into it relatively easily.

Less easy was learning the dance steps. Marshall wasn't without rhythm -- he was a musician, after all -- but this, he thought, wasn't proper dancing at all.

Lion-o groaned when he realized what was involved in the task. The clothing fit but didn't seem all that comfortable. It took him a while to master the dance steps, but eventually he was able to do them sufficiently to get the clue.

Mercy never thought she'd be grateful for some of the dancing lessons Bran had insisted upon, but they certainly made this much easier. She mastered several of the dances, curtsied to the instructor and headed to the next assignment.

Annie didn't think this would be so hard. She wasn't bad at dancing, and let's face it, she kind of rocked the look. But when it came down to it, she kept getting mixed up on a couple of the steps, and she ended up arguing with the instructor that they were just being difficult, which kind of messed up her time.

Oh, hey. This wasn't so bad. So, maybe the clothing wasn't really Jim's usual fare. That wasn't because it was weird, so much as it was just way more formal than he ever really had the chance to get used to.

Wee troubled child of a single mother. Fancy clothes weren't really a Hawkins family tradition.

The dance steps, on the other hand, gave Jim a little bit of trouble. He was good enough with his feet, but starting from scratch learning anything that resembled dancing. It was people with far more high-class educations than his own that generally learned this sort of thing where he was from.

This was just those damn formal balls back home. The suit he picked out wasn't much different from the SeeD uniform (http://images.wikia.com/finalfantasy/images/c/ce/VIIINida.jpg), and the dance steps were just a less showy version of that stupid dance Rinoa made him learn.

But she got into an argument with the dance instructor, and was severely delayed by him having his head up his... anyway. It took a while.

Under the supervision of the coachman, help load one of the mail wagons. What is and isn't allowed on a mail coach is pretty strict, as is what goes where in the coach, though the guards have been known to illicitly sneak deliveries into the lockboxes to make a little money on the side. Once you're done, the coachman will give you your next clue.

Yeah, Firekeeper was going to have to ask Tahiri for help before the activity even started.

To use the term "ask" loosely, anyway, as all she did was scowl at the piece of paper containing the first clue and hold it out to Tahiri without a word.
