Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

Just because it was raining didn't mean Puck was going to break with tradition. He hadn't even shown up with a shirt, and was happily damp from his walk to the tent.

Whatever. It was a really good day for him, and rain wasn't going to ruin that. Or prevent him from being shirtless. Ever. He scanned the crowd as he leaned against one of the tent poles, looking out for interesting newbies (and even if he was specifically looking for someone who wasn't new, it didn't hurt to see which of the new girls were hot. He was still allowed to look.)

Quinn came not-quite-running up to him, a big grin on her face. "My mom let me drive here," she gloated. "Hi. I missed you."

So she'd seen him a few weeks before. It was totally enough time to miss someone.

Whatever, seeing her for his birthday was one thing. Having her here, back in Fandom, and being able to see Quinn all the time? Totally different. And awesome. Puck matched her grin, holding out his arms to hug her. (...yes, he was shirtless and damp. He didn't care.) "Missed you too. You've got your car here now?"

Ignore the way his eyes lit up with possibility a little bit, there. He was just awash in visions of roadtrips and sex in backseats.

Quinn would accept a shirtless, damp hug as long as it came from Puck.

She clung for a moment. "Uh-huh," she said against his skin. (Mmmm. Skin.) "Apparently I'm responsible enough now. It'll be awesome to be able to just go if I want to."

Though she was thinking more about roadtrips, less about sex.

That was okay. Puck could always think about sex enough for both of them. "Did you see we're in, like, Atlanta or something? You could drive through the portal and go hang out with ancient Greeks or whatever and scare them with our superior technology."

Atlantis, Puck. Atlantis.

"That would be awesome if they wouldn't burn me as a witch," Quinn said thoughtfully. "Have you been over there? What's it like?"

She hesitated, then: "And I think it's Atlantis. So you know."

"It's hot and sunny, usually," Puck offered. Guess who wasn't going to share about the topless women with Quinn? He thought that was kind of a smart move. "You missed the really shitty stuff, like when we were in Japan and it rained for two weeks straight and it was all dark and crappy. This place and Egypt've been the best ones. Oh, oh, and there were cowboys and stuff at one point, too." He paused, considering, and added, "They wouldn't burn you as a witch. You're too pretty. They'd think you were a goddess or something."

And he was pretty sure Atlantis was that city in Georgia but he wasn't going to correct her. Wise move on his part.

He had made several wise moves, starting with not sharing about topless women.

"I heard about Egypt," she said. "Wesley didn't ride on a camel. But now we have to go to Atlantis, like, tomorrow."

She was cool with anyone who thought she was a goddess.

"'Kay, but we have to like, embrace their culture and stuff while we're over there," he decided with a slow smile. "Dress like them and everything. Even if we bring the car and they think you're a goddess."

He'd been doing so well, but he really couldn't resist trying to lock her into walking around bare-chested.

"Sure!" Quinn agreed, still dopey-in-like to be with him.

Then backtracked. This was, after all, Puck. "They wear togas and stuff, right?"

"Togas and...stuff," he agreed. 'And stuff' indeed. "And they accessorize with metal." He nodded wisely. "They're super-fashionable and stuff."

"I'll have to buy some jewelry while we're there," Quinn said, satisfied by the explanation. "It sounds awesome. When do you want to go?"

"This weekend," Puck declared, already thrilled by this idea. "Gives you time to unpack and stuff. You missed the cabins. Pretend to be sad."

That wasn't what Kate had stopped by for, but it was kind of a question that needed to be asked all the same.

"It's not freezing or anything. I totally take my shirt off for the winter picnics," Puck argued. "I'll be fine. Are you offering to keep me warm, Kate? Because really. Think of Bod and Quinn."

"Well, having nothing to do with Bod or Quinn, I was gonna ask for a hug," Kate replied, not even joking, even if she had a look of wry amusement on her face. "And maybe some totally manly squeeing over this ring."

She held up her left hand so he'd see said fabulous new ring – on her middle finger, thank you very much.

"Can I be your man of honor?" Puck asked, raising a brow even as he moved to hug her. Like he knew which finger the ring was supposed to go on. "I'll be awesome! And you'll have the best bachelorette party ever!"

Kate rolled her eyes as she hugged him back. "I'm not getting married, dumbass." Bod had been very clear on that point. "It's a promise ring."

Puck frowned curiously, reaching for her hand so he could study the ring. This was a new one for him -- flowers, he got. Jewelry, he normally got. Jewelry with significance...pretty much lost on him after wedding bands. "But like, you weren't letting him bang strippers before, right?"

"Well no," Kate scoffed, letting him take her hand. Hey, that ring deserved to be looked at. "It's a committed and monogamous relationship, so that's not exactly a new agreement."
