Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

In order to give people a place to get away from the traffic jam of the buffet and information tables, most of the chairs and tables for guests were set up further out on the lawn, under a tall blue and gold tent. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit down and enjoy themselves, but it might not have all been dry. Did we mention being grateful that it was just water falling from the sky?

"...oh, shit, Bod didn't, did he?" Hadn't made that leap yet, nope. "So I guess this means you're doing the long distance thing? Where the hell are you going, anyway?"

"Back to Kansas," Kate sighed, even if it actually hadn't been all that bad to be home, lately. "Got a room with Bod in my aunt's house. So yeah, long distance it shall be."

"Is your aunt cool?" he checked. "I mean, Kansas, so probably not, but how is she with like, the whole 'my boyfriend's visiting and we're gonna close the door now' stuff?" He'd run into that when visiting Quinn.

"She teases if she hears anything." Kate now knew that for a fact. "Other than that, she's okay. Plus, you know, it's Bod. People tend to like him."

He did the dishes.

"He seems way harmless," Puck agreed. "Bet your parents love him."

"They do," Kate replied, and couldn't help smiling a bit more fondly. "I don't think I've ever dated someone who they approved of so hard, before."

"Of course they do. It's Bod," Puck said, shaking his head. "I'm sure he treats you just fine when you're doing your thing and all, but the guy basically screams 'sweet innocent virgin.'"

"Yeah he's generally not the one doing the screaming." Oh well. At least her smirk was tempered somewhat by her general mood today. "But yeah, he kinda totally has that vibe about him, doesn't he?"

Puck just held up a hand for a high five. "Guy deserves more credit than people give him, if that's the case. I mean, like, me? I kind of just own the fact that I melt panties. But the sneaky approach might work even better, 'specially with parents." Not that he thought Quinn's mom hated him or anything, since he was good with moms. It was the dads, always, who ran him out of their daughters' bedrooms.

"I am not highfiving you over that," Kate informed him. Though she might pay good money to see him highfiving Bod over that subject. "And I doubt it can be called an approach if that's just his personality. I mean, it's not like he could try and be like you, for example."

"He could try!" Puck decided. That was a terrible idea, though. "I'd let him borrow my leather jacket!"

"No," Kate said, shaking her head. "No offence but I don't particularly want him to try and be like you. Even if he'd probably look hot in a leather jacket."

"Your loss," Puck said, shaking his head sadly. "I'm still gonna ask him how to not get killed by Quinn's dad. Dads never like me."

Kate snorted. "Well, I don't know how much help he'll be, since he's still kinda terrified of mine."

Then again, her dad was pretty much a giant who'd been arrested for beating someone up in the not too distant past.

"Quinn's parents split earlier this summer, and her dad kind of is out of the picture," Puck mused. "So I haven't had to deal with him yet. Is your dad actually scary? Is he huge? Does he have a gun?"

"Well, my dad is like six and a half feet tall," Kate replied, shrugging a shoulder. "But it's my mom who owns the gun."

Buck did. But details.

"You have terrifying parents," Puck said, lifting a brow. "Bod is brave as hell."

Kate shook her head. "Oh, you have no idea." He really didn't. "Some parts of the midwest are just seriously frightening, friend."
