Once again class was held in the Danger Shop today, which looked a bit like the clinic. Not exactly like it, but it had the same clinc-y feel to it. There were also supplies set out, so the students could probably figure out what they were doing today.

"We've gone over how to prepare, how to try and talk the hero out of doing something stupid or at least pointing out flaws in their plan, and it's always possible that despite your best efforts, something will go wrong. Most commonly, these things will be injuries. Hopefully it's nothing more than simple scrapes and bruises, but broken bones might happen, or a person might be knocked unconscious, and someone has to know what to do in a case like that," said Hermione, who began passing out a series of handouts. "Conditions might not always be ordeal, so you might not have proper supplies or time to treat something properly, in which case you may have to improvise. And for today's class, let's ignore that you might be able to heal something with powers, or with spells or potions. What I'm giving you now is just basic information, and I'm not a professional. If you can take a first aid class, I recommend it. There's no such thing as being too prepared. I also want to state that if an injury does occur, as soon as you can get proper medical attention, do so. Don't try to hide any injuries because you might get into trouble. Better punished than sorry.

"If someone is injured, stay calm. It might be difficult, especially if there's blood involved, or if the injury is otherwise... unpleasant somehow," she said carefully. "Check for responsiveness, and make sure you're treating the right thing. If someone is still breathing, there's no need to try CPR on them, for instance, not even if you saw them do it that way on television. Now, I want you to go over the information you've been given, and then I'm going to have you pair up to practice making a splint. You have the handout and can use the available supplies, and I'm here if you have any questions."

Jack looked around for a partner as he fiddled with one of the splints. And even though this was far from looking like the med center back home, he did get a certain wistful look as his thoughts turned to Allison.

Percy was ready to pair up and splint someone else's arm or leg or, in some instances (other mouthy demigod instances), their mouths.

"Splint me," Luke said, giving Percy's shoulder a shove before sitting down next to him.

Oh look, there was one of the mouthy demigods now! Percy smirked and started reaching for the supplies he'd picked up.

"What should I splint?" Percy asked, looking Luke over. "Arm? Leg? Finger? Lips?"

"In what situation would I need my lips splinted?" Luke asked. "I can't break those."

"You can break anything," Percy said, shrugging. "Just because there aren't bones in there doesn't mean a thing. Besides, you could break your jaw and that pretty much means you won't be moving your lips if they wire your jaw shut."

"I still wouldn't need a splint for it, dumbass," Luke pointed out. "And you can't break them. Rip, tear, split, yes. But not break."

"Someone some day is going to prove you wrong about that," Percy said, shaking his head. "Gimme your arm. We'll splint that and make you a one armed jerkface."

"I could still kick your ass even with one arm," Luke decided, putting his arm up on the desk. "Keep that in mind."

"Not even," Percy said, rolling his eyes. He needed something study and Percy guessed breaking out Riptide wouldn't be all that good. So, he dug out a ruler and used that. "Don't freaking break that just to prove a point either."

"You really think I'd go that far to prove a point?" Luke asked. "Seems more your style than mine."

"I absolutely think you'd go that far to be a jerk," Percy said and situated the ruler underneath Luke's wrist so he couldn't bend it.

"I would not," Luke insisted. He looked down at his wrist. "You know, you're not being as gentle as you should be. I have a broken bone, here. Show some sympathy."

Raven eyed the supplies. She preferred to just heal someone, but she'd let someone splint her for practice.

Scully waved to Raven, and offered, "Splint you, or be splinted?"

"You may splint me, if you wish," Raven said, giving Dana a smile. "I have little need for such a skill."

Scully gave her a stern look. Because Knowledge was the Ultimate Power. But she started preparing Raven's arm anyway. "You never know when this will come in handy," she pointed out. "What if you have to wait to heal someone? You wouldn't want their break to dislocate any further than it already is until you can help them."

"I have paid attention in case such a time does come, though it is not likely," Raven said. The times she had been unable to heal someone, a split would not have been helpful. And despite her past failures, she still had her Pride.

"Oh, you've seen this done before," Scully said, carefully placing Raven's arm on the splint stick, and reaching for bandages to tightly wrap around her forearm. A little more subdued, she said, "It's good to know what you can do, just in case."

"We have studied first aid at the Magic Reserves," Raven said with a nod. "And I have seen some of the skills demonstrated in real-life situations." Not that she'd been paying a lot of attention in Agio, though.

Scully taped the bandages down, then sat back to inspect her work a moment, eyes going back up to Raven. "If I can ask a personal question-- are you going to go to medical school, or get further training for your gifts?"

"I had not considered such a thing as medical school," Raven said. "Would it not be considered cheating to use my skills to pass tests? I have sought to increase my skills in many other areas, but since Azar's death, there has been no one to teach me more of healing."

Scully held out her hand to be splinted, thinking. "No, I don't think so. For one thing, you'd be able to use your gifts more efficiently, if you knew more of the details about how the body heals itself. What order things are healed in. You could also help more people-- maybe not healing them all the way, but helping those most in need, or who would otherwise need excessive pain management, for instance. It would mean a great deal of studying."

Raven gently placed the split stick against Dana's arm. "But it is simpler and faster for me to heal the sick or injured with my gifts," she said. "It is rare that there is something I cannot heal. Why should I allow someone to suffer when I can take their pain away?"
