Hero Management- Monday- Period 3- Class #6

Once again class was held in the Danger Shop today, which looked a bit like the clinic. Not exactly like it, but it had the same clinc-y feel to it. There were also supplies set out, so the students could probably figure out what they were doing today.

"We've gone over how to prepare, how to try and talk the hero out of doing something stupid or at least pointing out flaws in their plan, and it's always possible that despite your best efforts, something will go wrong. Most commonly, these things will be injuries. Hopefully it's nothing more than simple scrapes and bruises, but broken bones might happen, or a person might be knocked unconscious, and someone has to know what to do in a case like that," said Hermione, who began passing out a series of handouts. "Conditions might not always be ordeal, so you might not have proper supplies or time to treat something properly, in which case you may have to improvise. And for today's class, let's ignore that you might be able to heal something with powers, or with spells or potions. What I'm giving you now is just basic information, and I'm not a professional. If you can take a first aid class, I recommend it. There's no such thing as being too prepared. I also want to state that if an injury does occur, as soon as you can get proper medical attention, do so. Don't try to hide any injuries because you might get into trouble. Better punished than sorry.

"If someone is injured, stay calm. It might be difficult, especially if there's blood involved, or if the injury is otherwise... unpleasant somehow," she said carefully. "Check for responsiveness, and make sure you're treating the right thing. If someone is still breathing, there's no need to try CPR on them, for instance, not even if you saw them do it that way on television. Now, I want you to go over the information you've been given, and then I'm going to have you pair up to practice making a splint. You have the handout and can use the available supplies, and I'm here if you have any questions."

"Hey, I can't help that," Percy told him, shaking his head. "If you wanna blame someone, blame my dad. He's the one that gave me that ability. I didn't know about it for years."

"I wasn't blaming anyone for anything," he said. "I'm just saying your ripping off the band-aid way of nursing isn't gonna help here."

"Hey, I used to rip off bandaids when I didn't realize I was anything special," Percy said, reaching for the gauze and tape so he could secure Luke's arm to the ruler. "It was like the power was just turned off. I used to be able to not heal in water."

"That's because stuff doesn't really start happening for demigods until you realize what you really are," Luke pointed out. "Or so I'm told. I've always known so I never had to go through the whole power discovery phase."

"I can't even really imagine how things would have gone for me if I'd known from the start," he said, slowly securing Luke's wrist to the ruler with the tape and gauze. "I would have gotten rid of Gabe quick."

"Monsters also would have also found and attacked you sooner, and you would most likely have been stuck at camp year-round because of who you are," Luke pointed out, watching what Percy was doing carefully. "You would have only gotten to see your mom on holidays."

"Yeah well, I would have taken that over my mom having to deal with the hell that Gabe put her throat," Percy said, eyes on Luke's arm. He tightened the tape to make sure he wouldn't be able to slip and slide in the splint.

Luke would have taken a dick stepfather over what he had to go through; being a kid and having to protect both himself and his mother from real monsters with no training. But Luke was used to Percy's inability to see all sides of a situation by now, and didn't bother trying to argue with him. Instead he kept quiet and just focused on Percy patching up his arm.

"You got quiet," Percy said, finishing up the splint and patting Luke's wrist. "Develop a sudden case of laryngitis?"

"Don't have anything to say," he said, shrugging a shoulder. "Nice job, I guess?"

"Yeah, whatever," Percy said, rolling his eyes at that sudden change in mood. He had a feeling he knew what it was about. "Hope your fake broken bone feels better. You can take it off yourself."

"Okay then." It was easy enough to do. He just blinked out of existence for a moment and then blinked back in, freeing his arm of the splint and tape easily. "Do you want one too or are we done?"

He was ignoring that eyeroll even though he had kind of wanted to punch Percy when he saw it.

"We're done," Percy said and stood up to leave without looking at him. Now, he was irritated and he didn't even really know why. Hopefully a trip to the beach would take care of that. Hopefully.
