Parent Check-in

Rover, Martin Blank and Alanna Trebond sit at the registration table with information packets

Included in the packets are:
Your child's/ward's/whatever relationship you have with this person's Class Schedule
A Map of the School and Town
A Schedule of Events for Parents Weekend
The rules and regulations of Parents Weekend
A Coupon Book

At the desk is a sign saying:
Please sign in here for Parents Weekend

And depending who is looking at the sign it will magically say:
To ensure everyone's safety, please surrender any Firearms/Weaponry/Magical doodads that will cause harm to our students.

Your property will be returned to you before you leave.

ETA: Parents/Guardians are now required to check in on their own.
((OOC: In other words... If your parents are somewhat "normal" and unarmed they will not see the message. Unless they are packing some kind of weapon, and then they will be see it. Got it?))

Keith decides the food looks normal enough, despite the odd variety of 'people' milling around the table. He grabs a sandwich and a brownie. "Can I get you anything, Veronica?"

"No thanks, Dad," she says with a grin.

"I'm glad you were able to get away and come for a visit."

"Veronica - of course I could get away to visit my favorite daughter," he said with a grin. More seriously, "Neptune hasn't been the same without you. How are you doing here?"

"I bet you say that to all your daughters," she jokes, covering while she tries to think of a way to answer his question without lying but without telling the whole truth. She doesn't want him to worry about her panic attacks or the weird things that go on at Fandom High.

"This place is very different from Neptune, but I like it so far," she answers.

"How's business?" she asks, hoping a change of subject will keep him from probing her further about her school activities.

"Business is booming - I can barely keep up with it all. And my new secretary is not nearly as helpful."

Keith recognizes a brush-off when he sees one. "I'm glad you like it here. No problems with Logan or anything? How's the newspaper coming?"

"See, I told you not to send me so far away. You can't live without me," she teases.

"I hardly ever see Logan," she tells him ~~and that is not a sad look on her face~~, "though, last weekend, we had detention together, and he was a bunny," she adds with a grin.

"And the newspaper is good. I'm writing a series of articles on some of the non-human students to promote better understanding between humans & non-humans."

"Logan Echolls was a bunny last weekend in detention? And you were in detention? 'Fess up - details," he said, looking stern.

"Humans vs. non-humans. Right - par for the course," he said, officially giving up on understanding anything for the weekend.

Veronica winces. Think before you speak, Veronica!, she chastises herself.

"It wasn't a big deal. I forgot to turn a homework assignment in before I came home to visit last month. Apparently missing one homework is punishable by detention."

She decides to try changing the subject again. "And the human/non-human thing is a big deal on this campus, Dad. We have vampires and demons and mutants that go here and some people give them an unfair rap."

"Vampires and demons and mutants. Veronica, be honest - have you been drinking the koolaid?"

"Dad," she admonishes him. "You knew this school was different when you sent me here. And you got my letters. My dead best friend is enrolled here. Is it so hard to believe that there are other species here, too?"

Keith winces at the mention of Lilly being dead - sometimes it's easy to forget those details. "Your letters did not talk about vampires and demons - I'm not convinced this place is safe for someone like you."

Veronica rolls her eyes.

"Dad, trust me. I'm perfectly safe here. Besides, Angelus, who is supposed to be some big, bad, scary vampire, is my friend. We work on the paper together."

From across the room, Lilly waves at Veronica and Keith.

Veronica smiles with relief when she spots her best friend. She drags Keith across the room to where Lilly is standing.

"Lilly!" she exclaims, finally letting go of Keith's arm. She hugs her best friend. "I am so happy to see you!" She rolls her eyes in her dad's direction, hoping Lilly picks up her hint.

Lilly grins at Veronica, hugging her back. "Hey, V, great to see you too." She turns to Keith. "Hey, Mr. Mars. How've you been? Aren't you just loving the school?"

Keith is still looking back in the general direction of Angelus. He isn't liking that one at all...

Turning to Lilly finally, he says, "Hello, Lilly - you're looking... well. This place is really something."

Lilly smiles innocently at him. "Well, I feel excellent. This school is amazing. It's pretty much the awesomest thing ever. So, how are things going for you in Neptune?"

"Oh, you know - the usual. Business and what-not." He smiles politely.

Lilly nodded. "That's great."

Veronica grins. Lilly has distracted her dad from thinking about vampires for the moment.

"Dad got to meet Rover when we got here," she tells Lilly.

Lilly grinned, practically bouncing in place. "Isn't he just amazing? He's so sweet. We went to homecoming together, which totally made organizing the whole thing worth it- even though he got homecoming king, and I, like, came in third."
