Rinoa was thoughtful today, but she did her best to look busy. There was a new librarian, one she hadn't met yet, and she didn't want him-or-her to have a bad first impression of her.

And if she ran out of reshelving and busywork, then she'd get back to her current book. One of the benefits of working in the library: sitting behind the counter and reading on-the-job seemed legitimate.

"Yes!" Rinoa straightened up and tried to look Important. And was very glad that she had been organizing the check-in desk and not reading, when her new boss showed up. "I mean, hi! I'm Rinoa Heartilly. You must be the new librarian?"

Was it okay to offer your new boss a hand to shake?

It certainly was, since Belle took the offered hand delicately in her own and shook it. "It's wonderful to meet you, Rinoa," she said brightly, pronouncing the name carefully. "And yes, I'm Belle. I'm sorry I'm a little late today -- I'm still...adjusting to the island."

"All the weirdness?" Rinoa said easily. "It's not usually in a Viking village. I don't even really know where 'Viking' is, to be honest."

In her defense, she wasn't really from this world, so.

"It's not a place," Belle said with a soft laugh. "The term refers to explorers from Scandinavia, like those men. But yes, I'm not really...used to that."

"They're explorers?" Rinoa asked, perking up. "Do you think they might take us exploring? And the island is usually by some place called 'Maryland,' if you know of that."
