Library, Tuesday

Rinoa was thoughtful today, but she did her best to look busy. There was a new librarian, one she hadn't met yet, and she didn't want him-or-her to have a bad first impression of her.

And if she ran out of reshelving and busywork, then she'd get back to her current book. One of the benefits of working in the library: sitting behind the counter and reading on-the-job seemed legitimate.

(OCD-free because LJ is cranky.)

Belle bustled in a little later than she had earlier this week -- she was still getting used to the walk in from town, and one of the men had stopped to ask her something. Of course, since she didn't speak...that language, she had tried to communicate with him via sign language.

Once it was quite obvious that he was not complimenting her cloak but rather something quite a bit more personal, she'd moved on, hurrying into the library in a bit of a huff. Of course, Rinoa's presence made it a little hard to stay huffy, and her scowl melted into a warm smile as she tugged off her hood. "Good morning! Are you one of my aides?"

It certainly was, since Belle took the offered hand delicately in her own and shook it. "It's wonderful to meet you, Rinoa," she said brightly, pronouncing the name carefully. "And yes, I'm Belle. I'm sorry I'm a little late today -- I'm still...adjusting to the island."

"It's not a place," Belle said with a soft laugh. "The term refers to explorers from Scandinavia, like those men. But yes, I'm not really...used to that."
