Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

The food? Still there. The school? Still standing. Students? Still mingling.

Ahhhh. What fun this weekend was for us all. WHAT FUN. And this time it was actually the good weather for shirt removing!

[Please wait for OCD is up! This is the SECOND post for general mingling. Use this post if your browser can't handle the comment load of the first mingling post. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here.]

Rinoa shuddered. "Quistis kept calling," she said. "Trying to get Squall to come home, and ... and so we started talking about ... what we needed to be doing. And I said I had to get back to the Owls -- the resistance group? We're trying to free Timber. And he just ... he said that it was stupid and the Owls sucked and I ..."

Okay, the Owls weren't a world-class resistance movement or anything, but they were trying. Zone and Watts had both lost parents to the Galbadian occupation. She herself had run away from home to join the cause.

Yes, it had partly been to spite her father, but only ever partly. Timber's freedom mattered.

"Do you know why he said that?" Sookie asked gently, following along and frowning. "I bet it wasn't just to upset you, or anything."

Rinoa grumbled, picking at some grass idly and flinging it away.

"We weren't ... we didn't have training, like SeeD or anything," she said. "We weren't bloodthirsty, we weren't starting up some kind of terrorist group, we just ... we did what we could. And he's been mocking us ever since we met."

It was how they had met, not counting the dance, which possibly made his critique rankle all the more.

"Did he actually make fun of you guys, or just point out that you don't have training?" Sookie asked carefully. "Because Bobby and I got into a fight like that, once, 'cause...you know, he has training at home."

Rinoa gave Sookie a very sour sort of look. One that wasn't directed at Sookie, but at Squall.

"He said I could do more good elsewhere, because the Owls sucked," she said. "His words."

Squall had absolutely no sense of tact. Ever.
